After 20-year-old Aldrich Potgieter won the Rocket Classic in a dramatic playoff, he and the PGA Tour head to Illinois for the John Deere Classic. Potgieter won in a five-hole playoff over Max Greyserman and Chris Kirk to become the youngest ever international winner on the PGA Tour. Low scores are imperative for success at TPC Deere Run, with the last 15 winners of this tournament shooting at least 18-under-par.

Potgeiter enters this event at +4000 odds to go back-to-back, while Ben Griffin is the favorite at +1400, having won twice on the circuit in 2025.

My first click is Jake Knapp at +3500 odds. He was victorious at the 2024 Mexico Open at Vidantaworld, and very nearly captured his second title Sunday. Knapp wound up T-4th, just one shot out of a playoff at the Rocket Classic.

There was no tournament in 2020 due to COVID-19.

Not only is he coming in with strong form, but he’s tenth in birdie or better average for 2025, which is absolutely imperative for success at this relatively easy track.

He’s posted with odds that are longer than the top-eight golfers on the board, allowing us to recoup some value. The swaggy golfer is a very streaky player, and perhaps he can keep that going and pick off another victory in his career.

John Deere Classic 2025 Picks & Value Bets

  1. Lucas Glover +4500: Lucas Glover is a past champion at this championship, having won it in 2021. Two years after that, Glover finished in a tie for sixth here. In his most recent start of 2025, he posted a solid top-10 at the Travelers Championship, his fourth such result this year. The last 24 rounds at TPC Deere Run, he’s first in ball striking, second in strokes gained: tee-to-green, and third in total strokes gained.
  2. Tom Kim +7000: Tom Kim might be the most talented player in this tourney, despite only posting one top-ten on the campaign. By age 21, he’d already posted three titles on the PGA Tour. While it’s been tough sledding in 2025, golf is a fickle game and things can fall into place quickly. I can’t pass him up at this number.
  3. Jackson Suber +10000: The last pair of tournaments have been rather fruitful for Jackson Suber, as he chased a top-20 at the RBC Canadian Open with a tie for sixth at the Rocket Classic. He finished just two strokes out of a playoff, and was eighth in strokes gained putting for the week. He’s in search of his first PGA Tour triumph, which is exactly what Aldrich Potgeiter just did Sunday, and he also started the event at the same +10000 odds that Suber is sporting.
  4. Max Homa +12000: Other than a T-12 showing at the Masters in April, it’s been a nightmare season for Max Homa. If he were playing well he’d likely be the favorite to win the tournament. At these odds, however, I’m absolutely interested in a sprinkle on him, much like I am with Tom Kim for the same reasoning. He’s an interesting longshot and also someone worth wagering in the top 10/20 markets.
