Thirty-six holes are in the books at the Wyndham Championship and so far Sedgefield Golf and Country Club is living up to its reputation as one of the easy courses on Tour. Eighty-two players broke 70 on consecutive days leading to a cutline of -4, with Byeong Hun An holding a one stroke lead.

2011 champ and pre-tournament favorite Webb Simpson is two strokes off the lead, while Paul Casey, the only other top-20 player in the field is three shots back.

Top of the Board

There’s a running joke on golf Twitter that if Benny An could putt, he’d be one of the best players in the world. Coming into this tournament, An ranked 199 out of 202 qualified golfers on Tour in strokes gained putting, and his troubles on the green are the only reason he’s never won on North American soil.

He’s one of the best ball strikers on the planet, but in a tournament where the winning score is going to be at least -20, I have zero confidence that he can roll in enough putts to raise the trophy. Simpson on the other hand, is one of the best putters on tour and has already made 10 birdies and two eagles through two rounds.

Simpson absolutely loves this tournament, as evident by his four top-6 place finishes since 2014, and the fact that he named his daughter Wyndham! If you’re looking for a short favorite to back, Webb is the play.

Casey is in Control

If you’re looking to bet on a player with longer odds, look no further than Paul Casey. He’s completely dialed in with his irons this week, ranking sixth in ball striking and 10th on approach. He’s bogey free through 36 holes and if not for six missed puts inside 12 feet, he’d be flirting with the lead.

He has a history of crushing in weak field events like this one, posting four straight top-5’s and two wins in the last 17 months. +1200 is a bargain for him considering he’s only three shots back.

Favorite Live Value Picks at the Wyndham Championship

  1. Matthew Wolff (+4000): Wolff is one of the best birdie makers on Tour and proved just last month that he can storm the field on the weekend to lift the trophy. He leads the field in strokes gained approach through two rounds, and has already racked up 11 birdies and two eagles.
  2. Viktor Hovland (+4000): Hovland is a tee-to-green master, and ranks inside the top 10 in ball striking and strokes gained off the tee this week. He’s saved his best golf for the weekend in each of his last three events, posting 65 or better in three consecutive final rounds.
  3. Patrick Reed (+10000): Reed is still looking for his first win of the season and has been trending in the right direction for the last month. He started off slow Thursday, but a 66 in round 2 has him within striking distance.
