The Players Championship is upon us, and there’s plenty of hype for golf’s “fifth major” with Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy winning four of the last six iterations of this prestigious tournament. Unsurprisingly, Scheffler is the betting favorite in the Players Championship odds to win outright, with victories in 2023 and 2024.

Instead of focusing on who might win the event, or become the Players first-round leader after 18 holes, this article will focus on players to miss or make the cut, along with a parlay, in addition to a head-to-head matchup.

Brooks Koepka boasts +137 odds to miss the cut, and a -188 price tag to make the weekend. No player has shorter odds to play all 72 holes than Scottie Scheffler at -2000, while the World No. 1 also has the longest odds to trunk slam at +800.

Players Championship Miss the Cut Pick: Koepka to Miss (+137)

  • Brooks Koepka to Miss the Cut (+137 at bet365)

For my first selection to miss the cut, I’m staring right at Brooks Koepka, who has a checkered history at TPC Sawgrass, with nothing better than a tie for eleventh in six starts. He also hasn’t played the diabolical Pete Dye designed course since way back in 2022, because he’s just returned to the PGA Tour following a three-year stint on LIV.

Koepka’s biggest bugaboo is the potentially calamitous island green, par 3, 17th. In twenty career rounds, he’s rinsed ten golf balls in the pond, leading to an average of a bogey on that hole.

He’s played three events in 2026, with something of a mixed bag – a missed cut at the WM Phoenix Open, T-56th at the Farmers Insurance Open, and a tie for ninth two weeks ago at the Cognizant Classic. The last time he made the cut at this venue was way back in 2019, so I’m bullish on him slamming his trunk after two days this week.

Players Championship Make the Cut Parlay

  • Make the Cut Parlay: Min Woo Lee + Akshay Bhatia + Chris Gotterup + Corey Conners + Ricky Castillo + Wyndham Clark (+740)

I’m fading Koepka, but there’s plenty of golfers to like this week. I’ve cooked up a make the cut parlay of my favorites that pays +740 if it hits.

It starts with Min Woo Lee, who has been inside the top-15 in six of his last eight starts, with no missed cuts. He’s also made the weekend all three times at the Players, with a pair of top-20s. Next is the Arnold Palmer Invitational champion last week in Akshay Bhatia, who has three top-6s in the last four times teeing it up, plus was tied for third in last year’s Players.

I’m also adding Chris Gotterup, who has two victories on the circuit this season (Sony Open, WM Phoenix Open), and has made the weekend in all but one of his last 17 starts. Corey Conners is a horse for this course, with four top-26’s in his last five times teeing it up, including a pair of top-7s, and he’s only missed two of his last 28 cuts.

The make cut parlay is rounded out by Ricky Castillo and Wyndham Clark, who are Players Championship longshot picks. The former is coming off his first victory at the Puerto Rico Open, and he was fifth the tourney before at the Cognizant Classic, and also has a third place result in a string of six straight made cuts. The latter has been around for the final two rounds in six straight tournaments, plus was runner-up at the Players in 2024.

Players Championship H2H Picks

  • Ludvig Aberg over Russell Henley (+102 on DraftKings)

As for my favorite H2H picks, I’m targeting Ludvig Aberg over Russell Henley in a 72-hole matchup. With Aberg one of my top selections to win outright, it just makes sense to go all-in with him, especially since he’s the underdog at plus money.

Aberg has defeated Henley the last two tourneys they’ve both competed in, at Bay Hill and Riviera, and has won in four of the last six matchups in completed tourneys (Aberg had to withdraw from the American Express).

In four of the last five tracked tourneys, Aberg has fared better than Henley in strokes gained: tee-to-green, which is imperative for success at this tricky venue. Let me take Aberg to get it done again at +102 on DraftKings.
