  • The Tour Championship tees off Thursday, August 21st, from Atlanta, Georgia
  • Scottie Scheffler is the massive +150 favorite over Rory McIlroy

After Scottie Scheffler won the BMW Championship in dramatic fashion with a 71st hole pitch-in, he and the PGA Tour’s best head to the Tour Championship. The top-50 players have been cut down to only the 30 finest golfers in 2025, and this year, there are no starting strokes at East Lake Golf Club, so each player is on equal footing.

Scheffler claimed the FedExCup last year, and he’s looking to become the first ever back-to-back champion of the trophy, which awards the winner a cool $10 million dollars. Rory McIlroy (3) is the only player in the field who has captured multiple FedEx Cup titles. Below are odds for all 30 golfers teeing it up this week.

It’s never fun to bet Scottie Scheffler week-to-week, given that his odds are so low, but fade him at your peril; he has five victories on the campaign, including the PGA Championship, Open Championship, and BMW Championship this past Sunday. He’s also the defending FedExCup champion.

Collin Morikawa starts my card this week, at +3000 odds, which is longer than the top-seven choices on the board. Last year, he finished runner-up to Scheffler, but that was with Scottie having starting strokes. Over the 72-hole tournament, Morikawa posted the lowest score of anybody, which was 22-under-par.

In addition to of course wanting to win his first career FedExCup title, Morikawa has the extra motivation of hoping to be selected to the United States’ Ryder Cup team (he’s eighth in points). While he hasn’t lifted up a trophy since the 2023 Zozo Championship, Morikawa at +3000 odds are intriguing. He’s put up nine top-20s on the year (with a pair of runner-ups), and I’m confident in selecting him, especially with his strong track record around East Lake Golf Club.

Tour Championship 2025 Picks & Value Bets

  1. Maverick McNealy +4000: At the recently completed BMW Championship, Maverick McNealy was stellar, finishing in third place. For the tournament, he ranked first in strokes gained: putting, picking up over nine strokes compared to his competitors. That was McNealy’s fourth top-three of the campaign, after he took the 2024 RSM Classic crown, and he’s fighting to be a captain’s pick for the Ryder Cup team, like Morikawa.
  2. Harris English +4500: Harris English posted at T-12 at the BMW Championship, his seventh such result or better in the last twelve starts. Included in that are a pair of runner-ups in majors, at the PGA Championship and Open Championship. He’s won earlier in the season (Farmers Insurance Open), and was one of the automatic qualifiers for the U.S. Ryder Cup squad.
  3. Justin Rose +5000: A week ago, Justin Rose won the first leg of the playoffs at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. He was also the 2018 FedExCup champion, and is back at East Lake for the first time since 2019. He’s had six career top-10s at this venue, and is first in strokes gained: tee-to-green the last 24 rounds at this track.
  4. Brian Harman +6500: This is the longest shot on the board I’d be comfortable going with, and he’s picked up a victory this year at the Valero Texas Open. Harman also recently posted top-10s at the Open Championship and Travelers, and had a top-20 at the BMW.
