After I bagged yet another winner at the Texas Children’s Houston Open with Gary Woodland with his +11500 price tag, I’m out to snag another champ at the Valero Texas Open. It’s the final tune-up before the Masters, and the only way anyone not currently in the field at Augusta National can get in, is by winning this event.

Most of the world’s top players have opted not to tee it up at TPC San Antonio, which was won by three strokes by Brian Harman last season. Tommy Fleetwood, the 2025 FedEx Cup champion and Tour Championship winner, is the favorite over Ludvig Aberg and Russell Henley.

I’m starting my card yet again this week with a golfer I’ve been touting a lot lately, including at the completed Houston Open.

I firmly believe he’s destined to break through and claim his breakthrough PGA Tour victory very soon. Earlier in the season, he was T-3rd at the WM Phoenix Open, a shot out of a playoff. That was his fifth top-5 in the last year, and he entered the final round of the Players Championship two weeks ago in the final group.

Thorbjornsen was on the periphery of contention Sunday, but a final round 72 resulted in a tie for 14th. That’s just shy of what he needs to qualify for the Masters. Now, it’s win or fail to drive down Magnolia Lane at Augusta National in two weeks. What’s also especially appealing about Thorbjornsen is he sports +2500 odds to win outright, which is longer than the top-ten golfers on the board.

Valero Texas Open 2026 Picks & Value Bets

  1. Ryo Hisatsune +5000: Much like Thorbjornsen, I’ve been on Ryo Hisatsune quite often this season, believing both are on the cusp of their maiden tour title. He’s posted three top-10s in 2026, and had a top-15 at the Players Championship. Last year at the Valero, Hisatsune was tied for fifth.
  2. Sudarshan Yellamaraju +8000: Sudarshan Yellamaraju has made quite the name for himself as a PGA Tour rookie. The Canadian lefty burst onto the scene with a remarkable T-5th at the Players Championship, then posted a T-6th at the just completed Texas Children’s Houston Open. He needs a victory to compete at the Masters for the first time.
  3. Andrew Novak +11500: Andrew Novak has been outstanding at this track in two of the last three years, chasing a solo ninth place result in 2023 with a tie for third in 2025. He played in the final group on Sunday last year, and should he get over the finish line, would post his first individual win on tour (won 2025 Zurich Classic with Ben Griffin).
  4. Tom Hoge +24000: While Tom Hoge doesn’t come in with the best form, he has posted a T-8th finish (Amex) and T-14th (Pebble Beach) this season. He’s also comfortable at this track, tying for fifth last year, and he’s had another top-10 at TPC San Antonio in his career. While winning might be a bit too much of a stretch, he’ll be interesting to monitor in the top 5/10/20 markets.
