Jason Dufner didn’t disappoint as he entered the PGA Championship as a 7/2 favorite in the golf odds to win the Wanamaker Trophy, and ended up as the champion with a 10 under and conquered his first major tournament.

“It’s been a tough day. It was a long day. Tough golf course,” Dufner said. “It probably hasn’t hit me yet. I can’t believe this is happening to me. … I just decided that I was going to be confident and really put my best foot forward and play aggressive and try to win this thing. I wasn’t going to just kind of play scared or soft.

“I’m happy to get the job done. It’s a big step in my career.”

Dufner became the sixth player to win a major with a round of 63.

Adam Scott was the second favorite with 4/1 odds, but it was Jim Furyk, who had at 12/1 odds, who ended second with a score of -8.

Tiger Woods was disappointing once again and extended his drought to 18 majors without winning a Grand Slam.  Woods

“Is it concerning?” a dejected Woods said when asked about not winning a major in more than five years. “No. I’ve been there in half of them. So that’s about right. If you are going to be in there three-quarters or half of them with a chance to win on the back nine, you have just got to get it done.

“I was right there and certainly had a chance to win the Masters and the British this year. The other two, I just didn’t hit it good enough. Just the way it goes.”
