The NFL season begins in less than three months with camp slated to open in just over six weeks. Yes, football is right around the corner, which means it’s time to look at NFL win totals.

The talk of the off-season has to be the Cleveland Browns, which drafted Johnny Manziel in the first round. Since draft day, Johnny Football has electrified the league with jersey sales and such. In fact, the hype even reached the sports books, which have the Browns (4-12 last year) win total at 6.5 (-150 over).

Mind you, this is despite the fact Cleveland’s rising super star Josh Gordon may be suspended the entire season. Ultimately, it might end up being new coach Mike Pettine’s aggressive defense (not Johnny Football) that pushes the Browns over the hump. As far as the team’s 2014 schedule, its opponent’s 2013 combined winning percentage is .465.

Still, Cleveland has six games against the Bengals, Ravens and Steelers. The former team has been to the playoffs three straight years, while the latter two remain somewhat in transition. Do the Ravens and Steelers return to Super Bowl-team form or fall into mediocrity?

For those who believe in the Browns, you might be better served searching around for a better win total where you give up half a game but receive a better payout in return. Also, you better pray Johnny Football is the real deal.
