A new week of KBO action begins Tuesday at 5:30 am EST, with a clash of first versus worst. Powerhouse NC hits the road to face Hanwha in a game that sets up as a high scoring affair. Both teams will trot out struggling starters and the game total reflects that.

SK Wyverns -115 +1.5 (-165) Under 10.0 (-115)

Odds as of Aug. 3rd.

The over/under currently sits at 10.5, a total that has been exceeded in three of Eagles’ starter Chad Bell’s last four starts.

Dinos Will Beat Up on Bell

Bell has allowed 38 runs in his last eight starts, making it out of the 6th inning just once. One of those outings was against the Dinos, and it did not end well for the right-hander. Bell surrendered seven runs in four innings, including three home runs.

NC’s offense has been firing on all cylinders lately, crossing the plate 33 times in its last four contests. Each of those games has produced a total north of 10.5, and they’ve scored at least eight runs in five of eight meetings versus Hanwha this season.

You’re probably thinking the Dinos’ -1.5 (-150) is the play here, but the over is actually more enticing. NC will give the ball to its weakest starter Jae Hak Lee, who lasted just 2.1 innings in his last start against Lotte. He allowed five runs and four walks to the Giants, raising his ERA to 6.04. He’s faced the Eagles twice this season, with very different results. In early June he limited them to a run over 7 innings, but two weeks later he surrendered four runs in just five innings.

Given his recent struggles, I’m thinking Hanwha’s bats will be more than capable of doing their part to help this game go over.

Pick: Over 10.5 (-115)

KT Wiz Looking To Stay Hot

KT Wiz is one of the hottest teams in the league and they proved that emphatically over its last two contests. They outscored SK 22-1 over the weekend, and ran their winning streak to five. Tuesday they’ll face another hot team in Kiwoom, but the Suwon have a big advantage in the starting pitching department.

They’ll trot out right-hander Odrisamer Despaigne, who was brilliant last time out. He allowed just one run over 7 innings versus KIA, marking the third time in his last four outings he’s surrendered just a single run. Last time he faced the Heroes he also was excellent, holding them to one run over 7 innings in a no decision.

Kiwoom meanwhile, will give the ball to lefty Seung Ho Lee, and we all know how well the Suwon hits southpaws. Also working in KT Wiz’s favor is the fact that Lee has struggled badly recently. In his last outing, he latest just 2.1 innings against light-hitting SK, and the two starts before that he surrendered a combined 12 runs. That’s music to the Suwon’s ears, and I expect Lee to get hit hard again in this one.

Pick: KT Wiz Suwon moneyline (+100)
