There are two rules to betting KBO games that I’ve come to learn this season. The first is anytime a Doosan Bears game has a total below 10, it’s an auto bet. The second is never, under any circumstance, fade Chang Mo Koo.

Fortunately for us, both rules are in play Saturday, as the action gets underway at 1:00 am ET.

Odds as of June 5th.

The Bears’ Bats are Alive

After a quiet few games last week by their standards, Doosan’s offense has found its form again. They’ve scored 32 times in their last four outings and have a history of high-scoring affairs with the Kia Tigers. Three of their four matchups this season have produced double-digit totals, including a pair of 17-run games in mid-May.

A full 67% of Bears games in 2020 have ended with a total of 10 or more, and the offense has another great opportunity to rack up runs on Saturday.

Doosan will square off against the Tigers’ Drew Gagnon, who was roughed up by LG last time out. Gagnon surrendered five runs in just four innings en route to a 13-5 defeat. He’s allowed four or more runs in three of five starts, despite not having faced the league’s two top teams – Doosan and NC.

The best argument for betting the under is that the Bears will be giving the ball to one of their top arms, Chris Flexen. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 2.61 ERA this season; but interestingly enough, all but one of his starts has ended with a total of at least 10.

Pick: Over 9.0 (-120)

A Dream Spot for NC’s Chang Mo Koo

These are how many runs Chang Mo Koo has given up in each start this season: 0, 0, 1, 1, 0. The NC Dinos lefty has a 0.51 ERA and a 0.60 WHIP, to go along with a 38-9 strikeout-to-walk rate.

He’s dominated every opponent he’s faced, including some of the KBO’s top-scoring teams. KT Wiz, Doosan, and Kiwoom – who rank second, third and fourth in runs scored – combined to score twice against Koo in 23 innings this season.

Now he faces the dreadful Hanwha Eagles, who have lost 12 straight. On Friday, the Eagles were blown out 13-2 by the Dinos, and they have now been outscored 41-10 over their past four games. They’ll counter with Chad Bell, who’s been on a pitch count in each of his first two starts, and surrendered five hits and four runs in 3.2 innings last time out.

Pick: NC Dinos -1.5 (-200)

Sticking with Straily

If not for one bad start this season, Lotte’s Dan Straily might be talked about the same way as Koo. The former MLB journeyman was excellent again in his last outing, holding Doosan to a single run over five innings. He’s allowed two runs or fewer in five of six starts, and ranks third in the league in strikeouts.

He opened the season with a quality start versus Saturday’s opponent, KT Wiz, scattering three hits and allowing two runs in a 7-2 victory. The Giants knocked off the Suwon 6-4 on Friday, and are now 4-0 versus them this season.

Pick: Lotte Giants moneyline (-135)
