The Doosan Bears’ train keeps on chugging and they’re now just two wins away from a spot in the Korean Series. The defending champs squeaked by KT Wiz in Game 1 of the KBO Playoff on Monday, and will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 series on Tuesday, at 4:30 am EST.

 KBO Playoff Odds: Game 2

Team Moneyline Runline Over/Under Run Total Game Time (Eastern)
Doosan Bears +104 +1.5 (-196) Over 9.5 (-102) 4:30 a.m.
KT Wiz Suwon -128 -1.5 (+152) Under 9.5 (-124)

Odds as of Nov. 9th at FanDuel.

Dating back to the regular season, Doosan has now won seven straight and with the win on Monday, are 9-4 versus KT Wiz this season. 10-game winner Won Joon Choi will toe the rubber for the Bears, while 15-game winner Odrisamer Despaigne will counter for the Suwon.

Despaigne Struggled Down the Stretch

Despaigne may have won 15 games this season, but he was incredibly inconsistent down the stretch. He was winless over his final six starts, allowing an average of 3.66 runs per outing, and surrendered at least four runs on four separate occasions.

One of those disappointing efforts came against the Bears, where he gave up four runs and six hits over 5 innings. He made four starts against Doosan over the course of the regular season, posting 0-1 record with a 7.04 ERA.

The Bears have outscored their opponents by 20 runs during their current seven-game winning streak, and have held the opposition below three runs in six of those contests.

KT Wiz Has Choi’s Number

Choi meanwhile, stormed out of the gate this season winning his first nine decisions, but faltered hard down the stretch. He went 1-2 over his final eight outings, making it out of the 6th inning in just one of those starts.

The submariner/sidearmer was especially ineffective versus KT Wiz, allowing eight runs over 10.2 innings in two starts. KT Wiz touched him up for three home runs in those outings, and Choi’s 1.21 HR/9 rate is something that the Suwon can definitely expose.

KT Wiz features KBO home run king Mel Rojas Jr, and as well as 20-home run talents Baek Ho Kang and Jae Gyun Hwang. Both Rojas Jr. and Kang could find themselves on an MLB team in 2021, and a strong performance during the playoffs would help bolster any future contract.

Play the Over

A pair of starters who struggled down the stretch, and two of the three bet offenses in the KBO seems like a recipe for a high-scoring game to me.

As mentioned in Monday’s article, Doosan averaged a league-best 6.22 runs per game over the final month of the season, while KT Wiz crossed the plate an average of 6.16 times per outing.

Sure, Game 1 was a low-scoring game as we predicted, but five of Despaigne’s last eight starts have produced a double-digit total, while Choi has been very unreliable over the last two months.

Pick: Over 9.5 (-102)
