  • The World Series continues tonight with Game 2 excitement between the Dodgers and Blue Jays
  • Kevin Gausman has been stellar in the postseason with a 2.00 ERA

After the Blue Jays smashed their way to an 11-4 win in Game 1 of the World Series, the Dodgers look to exact some revenge tonight. Shohei Ohtani entered the series with the shortest odds in the World Series MVP discussion, and he hit a late two-run home run in Game 1.

In Game 2, it’s a pitching matchup featuring Dodgers hurler Yoshinobu Yamamoto versus Blue Jays ace Kevin Gausman. The latter is the focus of this article, along with Ernie Clement and Max Muncy, my three favorite player prop bets for Dodgers vs Blue Jays Game 2.

Player Prop Picks: Dodgers vs Blue Jays Game 2

PlayerPropBest Odds
Ernie Clement (TOR)Over 1.5 Hits+420 at FanDuel
Kevin Gausman (TOR)Under 4.5 Hits Allowed-110 at BetMGM
Max Muncy (LAD)Over 0.5 Home Runs+503 at DraftKings

My MLB player props card starts with over 1.5 hits for Ernie Clement. I’m also taking the under on Gausman’s total hits allowed yet Muncy to hit his fourth career home run off Gausman, or a dinger against other Blue Jays pitching.

Blue Jays vs Dodgers Player Prop #1: Ernie Clement Hits

Blue Jays do-it-all postseason hero Ernie Clement just won’t stop raking in the playoffs. He already led the majors in the regular season in defensive runs saved, but he’s been getting it done with the bat in their run to their first World Series since 1993.

Clement is hitting at a ridiculous .435 clip in twelve games, picking up at least one base rap in all but two contests. Furthermore, Clement has at least two hits in seven of twelve outings, including Game 1 vs the Dodgers.

For him to record two hits in this game, you can find a very enticing line of +420 on FanDuel, compared to +300 at other books. A wager like this always presents a decent amount of risk, due to the nature of it being difficult to get a pair of hits. If anyone is up to the task, it’s Clement and his remarkable postseason run.

LAD vs TOR Player Prop #2: Kevin Gausman Hits Allowed

It’s always a little bit disarming to select an under in the World Series Odds, given that this is the best of the best, and the LA Dodgers are a wagon. However, I feel confident in Jays starter Kevin Gausman.

In his career, Gausman, who will be making his first-ever start in the Fall Classic, has given up 38 hits in 167 at-bats versus LA. That equates to a batting average of .228. His line is set at 4.5, and selecting the under in his first three postseason starts was the play, as he gave up four hits once and three hits twice.

Another aspect to consider is Toronto Manager John Schneider’s propensity to lift pitchers earlier than other managers might. That’s occurred with Gausman, as he’s gone exactly 5.2 innings in all three postseason starts. Him not lasting as deep into games means fewer opportunities for more hits against him.

Dodgers vs Blue Jays Player Prop #3: Max Muncy Home Run

Finally, I’m going to select a player to hit a home run, and since the Blue Jays haven’t faced Yoshinobu Yamamoto before and there’s no data to glean from that, I’m looking at a player from the opposing dugout to go yard.

Max Muncy leads the Dodgers in all-time playoff home runs, and despite him only hitting one this playoff run, I expect him to do it yet again because of his success against Kevin Gausman. In his career against the Jays ace, the left-handed batter has swatted three HR with six hits in 18 at-bats, along with five walks for a .478 OBP.

The Dodgers with homers against Gausman are as follows – Muncy 3, Mookie Betts 3, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman 1 each. Muncy did it in 18 at-bats, while Betts has the same number in 49. Though he’s not lighting the world on fire, I like the juice of over +500 for a hitter comfortable against Toronto’s Game 2 starter.

It’s a bit of a gamble, considering I’m going with Gausman to surrender four or fewer hits, but a calculated one at that.
