Dodger Bats Will Rake Tonight

Tonight is the rare night late in the postseason where a team is likely to see the back end of a mediocre bullpen. Atlanta is turning to Huascar Ynoa in what is likely to amount to a bullpen game. During the regular season, ATL’s bullpen was 10th in the majors in ERA, but only 19th in xFIP.

The 24-year-old Ynoa had a solid regular season, all things considered, posting a 4.05 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in his first full season. Only one player on the Dodgers has even faced him before (Trea Turner, who’s 2-for-9). But this is a different spot – a hostile road environment against the reigning World Series champions, who are both desperate to avoid a 3-1 hole and carrying all the  momentum.

I’m going to put a little on the middle of the LA order driving in some runs.

Picks: Corey Seager over 0.5 RBI (+180); Will Smith over 0.5 RBI (+160); risk 1.0 units for both

Urias Will Last Long Enough

Julio Urias had an ugly relief outing in Game 2 in Atlanta. He lasted just one inning, giving up, three hits and two runs. His overall numbers against this Atlanta roster are excellent, though (.165 opponent average, .435 OPS in 42 at-bats). Only Freddie Freeman (2-for-8 with two home runs) has taken him out of the park.

The over/under strikeout number for Urias has been set at 4.5. In his last eight starts (not counting relief appearances), he’s had at least five Ks seven times. If he maintains his K/9 rate from the regular season (9.5), he would need to last just under five innings to get to five strikeouts. That’s the likely outcome, and the -135 odds are fair price.

Picks: Julio Urias over 4.5 strikeouts (-135); risk 1.0 units
