I’m taking the over for my Capitals vs Maple Leafs prediction. Washington has cleared 6.5 goals in six straight and four straight on the road. Toronto matches that pace at home, hitting the over in four of their last five at Scotiabank Arena.

Both clubs are stinging from blowout losses, which usually leads to wide-open hockey the next time out.

The NHL playoff standings tell the bigger story too. Toronto’s nine-year playoff streak is ending, and Washington is fighting for its life, so motivation is going to be wildly different on each bench.

Dubois has been a complete ghost in the offensive zone. He’s stayed under 1.5 shots in 13 of his last 15 games, averaging just 0.93 per contest.
