Pirates right-hander Keller has won two of his last three decisions after suffering four straight losses in as many starts. He’s won just two of his last 11 decisions since May 10.

Following a June 10 start against the Los Angeles Dodgers in which he surrendered four earned runs in just 2.2 innings, Keller was banished to triple-A Indianapolis. He was recalled for an August 1 start facing the Philadelphia Phillies.

Keller ranks in the bottom 4% of the league in wOBA (.374) and exit velocity (91.3). He’s also among the bottom 5% in hard hit percentage (46.5) and the bottom 8% in xBA (.280).

Keller is facing the Cubs for the fourth time this season. He’s 1-1 with a 2.57 ERA. In six career starts against them, Keller is 1-3 with a 6.50 ERA. At PNC Park, he’s 2-9 with a 5.71 ERA in 19 career starts.

Chicago right-hander Mills is among the top 10% in barrel percentage (4.7). But he’s in the bottom 9% in xBA (.276). He’s lost three of his past four decisions and five of seven since the beginning of July.

Cubs vs Pirates Pick

Chicago is dominating the series with Pittsburgh this season. The Cubs have won seven in a row and nine of 10 from the Pirates. For the year, they own a 12-4 edge.

Overall, though, these are two bad teams. Counting on either to win could easily come back to haunt you. Both teams are 50% on the over this year – Pittsburgh is 74-73-9 and Chicago is 74-74-8.

With these two pitchers on the hill,  the total of 8.5 sure seems low.

Pick: Over 8.5 (-118)
