The Diamondbacks will try to right the ship on Tuesday, May 22nd when they resume their three-game series against the Brewers at Miller Park.

Arizona has lost 11 of its last 12 games, including a 4-2 defeat to Milwaukee on Monday night. The D-backs’s offense has been downright offensive lately, with Torey Lovullo’s club ranking dead last in the Majors in batting average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, and runs per game over their last ten games. Their inability to put the bat on the ball has resulted in their worst stretch of the season and has caused them to free fall into second place in the NL West behind the hard-charging Rockies.

The Brewers, meanwhile, couldn’t be much hotter. Milwaukee has won its last three series and is getting huge contributions from its pricey offseason acquisitions. Christian Yelich is leading the team in batting average, and Lorenzo Cain is leading the Brew Crew in hits and on base percentage. Both players will be in the line-up tonight and will be looking to inflict a little more damage.

The Brewers will be facing a familiar foe in Matt Koch. Milwaukee tagged the 27-year-old right-hander for eight runs in just 4.1 innings during his last start on May 16th. It was Koch’s rockiest outing of the year and he’ll be eager to turn the page with a solid outing tonight.

Koch will be going up against Jhoulys Chacin.  The veteran starter is 3-1 with a 3.63 ERA in 2018 and is coming off of a gem against the D-backs in which he allowed just two hits over seven innings. Chacin stymied batters with his exceptional slider and vastly improved changeup. Expect him to bring his A-game again tonight.

Arizona vs Milwaukee is a classic example of a game you shouldn’t overthink. In one corner you have the D-backs, who have been the worst offensive team in baseball during the last ten games and can’t seem to buy a win. They’re missing their most productive player in AJ Pollock, and are sending a pitcher to the mound who has been beaten like a rented mule in his last two starts.

Milwaukee has outscored Arizona 20-8 in their four meetings this season and should have little difficulty pulling out a win tonight.

In the other corner you have the Brewers, who have won seven of their last ten games, are reasonably healthy, and will be sending a pitcher to the mound who handcuffed batters in his last start. Milwaukee has outscored Arizona 20-8 in their four meetings this season and should have little difficulty pulling out a win tonight.
