Most baseball pundits were expecting a Braves-Dodgers NLCS. The Phillies and Padres had other ideas. Philadelphia and San Diego upset Atlanta and LA respectively in the NLDS, and will now square off in a best-of-seven series starting Tuesday with a World Series berth on the line.

The matchup is not short on star power as Bryce Harper, Manny Machado, Juan Soto, Rhys Hoskins and Nick Castellanos are just a handful of the big names that will be featured. There’s no better way to bet on or against MLB superstars than in the props market, and we’ve identified our favorite Phillies vs Padres player props for Game 1 below.

Our first Philadelphia-San Diego player props target is Soto, whose odds to record a hit are quite favorable. His -150 price tag is much longer than his teammate Machado’s -210 odds, which screams value given the matchup against Zack Wheeler.

PHI vs SD Prop #1: Juan Soto 1+ Hits

Soto has an extensive track record against the Phillies and Wheeler after spending the majority of his career in the same division with the Nationals. He’s faced the righty 38 times, posting a .289/.449/.474 slash line in those at-bats, while taking him deep twice.

As for his recent form, that’s pretty strong as well. Soto’s recorded at least one hit in three straight playoff games, and in five of his last six postseason tilts overall.

Pick: Juan Soto 1+ Hit (-150), 1 unit

PHI vs SD Prop #2: Yu Darvish Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Our next target in the Phillies vs Padres player props is the over on Yu Darvish’s strikeout prop. The over/under is currently set at 5.5, a number he’s eclipsed in 10 of his past 11 starts.

Darvish was going to start on three day’s rest for San Diego if the NLDS had needed a fifth game, but now he has the benefit of a few extra days to get ready for Game 1. He faced the Phillies twice this season, averaging seven strikeouts per outing, and has a very strong K rate over his career against current Philadelphia batters. In 110 at bats, Philly hitters have struck out 29 times, which amounts to a 26% strikeout rate.

Pick: Yu Darvish Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+100), 1 unit

PHI vs SD Prop #3: Bryce Harper 1+ Home Runs

If you’re going to target a player to go yard in the PHI vs SD props, Harper has got to be the top choice. He’s hit the most homers in the postseason of anyone on either team (3), and is fresh off an 8-for-16 performance in the NLDS, with home runs in each of his past two games.

He’s faced Darvish just six times in his career, and while he’s recorded only a single hit, it was a dinger last season. That homer was significant because it was third hardest hit home run Darvish has allowed since 2015. Harper is fresh off a season where he posted a 47.9% hard hit rate, the third best mark of his career.

Pick: Bryce Harper 1+ Home Run (+370), 0.25 units
