  • The Chicago Cubs have been red-hot at home, where they have won six of seven, but take a middling 13-16 record to Coors Field
  • The Atlanta Braves are coming off a weekend sweep in Miami, but face a Pirates squad that has not lost a four-game series this season
  • The Tampa Bay Rays return home with a share of first place in the AL East after taking three of four in Boston

The new week gets underway with the Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago Cubs looking to secure sole possession of first place in their respective divisions in series with struggling opponents, while the Atlanta Braves aim to keep pace with the NL East-leading Philadelphia Phillies during a home series against the sagging Pittsburgh Pirates.

We have odds for each of these new series as well as every other series kicking off on Monday.

Cubs Aim to Reverse Road Woes in Visit to Colorado

The Chicago Cubs will try to maintain the torrid pace that earned them six wins in seven games on their recent home stand when they take on the Colorado Rockies in a three-game set this week as a -110 bet on the MLB series prices.

The Cubs hit the road for seven games after outclassing the St. Louis Cardinals with a three-game sweep over the weekend to remain deadlocked with the Milwaukee Brewers atop the NL Central standings. Chicago also took two of three from the Rockies during their recent home stand. However, the club has been a major disappointment on the road this season.

Chicago has dropped three of its past four road series while going 4-8 during that stretch, including six contests in which they tallied three or fewer runs. That could spell trouble in this week’s series at Coors Field, where the Cubs have posted consecutive wins just once in 35 contests since 2007.

The Rockies’ road woes continued in their weekend series in New York, where they dropped two of three to the Mets, but with wins in eight straight home dates, Colorado takes on the Cubs as a -110 bet on the MLB series prices.

Colorado has averaged seven runs per game during its current home tear, and leads the majors with an eye-popping 6.3 runs per game on home turf. However, the Rockies have also surrendered a lot of runs at times in home dates this season, allowing six or more in six of their past 11, inflating the team’s ERA at home to a bloated 5.90.

Pick: Cubs (-110)

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Atlanta Braves Series Price

Team Odds
Pittsburgh Pirates +230
Atlanta Braves -275

Braves Look to Extend Win Streak against Visiting Pirates

The Atlanta Braves will be aiming for a fourth straight victory when they open a four-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates as strong -275 favorites on the MLB series prices. Atlanta is coming off a three-game sweep of the last-place Miami Marlins to improve to 6-2 over the team’s past eight outings, and enter the week just one game back of the Philadelphia Phillies in the hunt for top spot in the NL East.

But while the Braves’ sweep in Miami boosts them to 12-4 in their past 16 on the road, they have struggled with consistency at times on their home turf at SunTrust Park. Atlanta took two of three from the visiting Detroit Tigers to open the month, and have earned the win in three of four home series. But victory has come by the narrowest of margins, with the Braves going 6-5 over that stretch, and a meager 9-12 over their past 21.

Pirates vs Braves Probable Starting Pitchers

Jordan Lyles June 13 Julio Teheran

The Braves also dropped two of three in Pittsburgh last week, but face a Pirates squad that arrives in town as lengthy +230 underdogs on the MLB series prices after getting swept in Milwaukee this past weekend.

Last week’s series win over the Braves has been the sole highlight on Pittsburgh’s otherwise dismal 6-14 run. The Pirates have gone 2-5 on the road during their current slide, while surrendering almost 6.6 runs per game. However, Pittsburgh still maintains a 17-16 road record on the season, and has yet to fall to defeat in a four-game road series this season.

Pick: Braves (-275)

Oakland A’s vs Tampa Bay Rays Series Price

Team Odds
Oakland A’s +180
Tampa Bay Rays -210

Red-Hot Rays Host Faltering A’s

The Tampa Bay Rays will be looking to end a three-game home losing streak when they return to Tropicana Field on Monday for a three-game set with the Oakland A’s as -210 favorites on the MLB series prices. The Rays capped a seven-game road trip by taking three of four in Boston over the weekend to pull even with the New York Yankees atop the AL East standings.

While the Rays sport the third-best record in the AL, they have been ordinary at home, going 8-7 over their past 15, a stretch that includes series losses to the Yankees and Minnesota Twins. However, Tampa Bay has been getting it done on both sides of the ball, outscoring opponents by a 31-10 margin during the team’s current 5-1 run.

Listed as +180 underdogs on the MLB series prices, the A’s visit Tampa Bay after escaping with a split in a four-game weekend set in Texas. Oakland hung on for a 9-8 win after blowing an 8-0 lead in Sunday’s series finale, and were subjected to a lengthy airport delay leaving Arlington late on Sunday night after the team’s plane suffered damaged during a weekend thunderstorm.

Further complicating matters for the A’s is their shaky record against the Rays, with the club going 4-10 in 14 overall meetings while failing to record a series win in Tampa Bay since 2016.

Pick: Rays (-210)
