The World Baseball Classic continues Friday with Mexico facing Great Britain in the tournament debut for both teams. Mexico came within three outs of advancing to the final back in 2023, and online sportsbooks expect them to make quick work of the Brits in this matchup. Mexico is currently a -900 moneyline favorite, and is laying 4.5 on the run line. That ladder line is one I’m looking to bet against, as Great Britain has proven to be a tough out.

Mexico vs Great Britain Odds
The best place to wager on either team’s moneyline is over at Kalshi. The prediction market is currently trading Mexico at 90c to win, which equates to -900 odds in sports betting terms. That’s significantly lower than most commercial books, who have the number priced at -1400.
Great Britain meanwhile, is trading at 12c to win on Kalshi, which equals +733 odds. That’s slightly better than the +700 price offered by DraftKings, although DK is one of the few books at the time of writing to post run line and total odds.

There’s no denying Mexico has the more talented roster, with MLB staples like Randy Arozarena, Alejandro Kirk and Joey Ortiz headlining the lineup. They’ll be flanked by plenty of other MLB’ers, while the pitching staff will be anchored by Javier Assad and Taijuan Walker.
Assad is expected to start versus Great Britain, and is fresh off a pair of scoreless innings with the Cubs in his last Spring Training outing before the WBC. The righty was 4-1 in eight starts during an injury riddled 2025 campaign, and is reportedly fighting for one of Chicago’s last two starting rotation spots.
All in all, Mexico features 18 new players from their 2023 roster, including 11 pitchers. Perhaps the best arm belongs to Seattle closer Andres Munoz, but the Brits aren’t likely to see him before the final inning. Mexico starts the tournament with the sixth shortest WBC odds, and are -330 to advance out of Pool B.
As for Great Britain, they were a scrappy bunch in 2023, staying within 4 runs of the heavily favored Americans, while beating Colombia and giving Mexico all they could handle in a 2-1 defeat. 13 players return from that team, but what is more important is who’s here this time round.
Yankees slugger Jazz Chisholm Jr. will be leading the way for Great Britain this year, fresh off a 31 homer season. He’s also stolen 30+ bases in back-to-back campaigns, and his ability to manufacture runs will be key in the Brits covering this run line. Joining him is Washington catching prospect Harry Ford, who belted two dingers in the 2023 WBC and batted .308. He smacked 16 home runs and drove in 74 runs in Triple-A last season, with a .283 batting average.
On the mound, Great Britain will lean on the Beck brothers, Brendan and Tristan. The former is expected to get the start, after posting a 3.36 ERA and 123 strikeouts over 133 innings between Double-A and Triple-A in the Yankee system last year. His brother meanwhile, earned a major league call up by San Francisco in 2025, after a 2.59 ERA in Triple-A ball.
The Brits may not have the same level of talent on paper as Mexico, but there is a ton of continuity from the previous tournament, and the roster has enough speed and pop to make things interesting. They showed out very well in 2023, and have looked very good so far this spring. They defeated the Milwaukee Brewers and tied the San Diego Padres in exhibition play, and are a value catching this many runs in their opener.
