Game 1 of the NLCS is in the books, as the Phillies prevailed over the Padres in what turned out to be an incredible pitcher’s duel. Both Zack Wheeler and Yu Darvish were excellent, throwing 7 innings a piece, while each team’s bullpen pitched 2 innings of scoreless, hitless baseball.
Philadelphia and San Diego combined for just four hits total, matching the record for the fewest ever in a playoff game. Game 2 goes Wednesday afternoon, and it too will feature excellent pitching on both sides. Blake Snell takes the ball for the Padres, while the Phillies will counter with Aaron Nola.
The latter will be our first target in the Phillies vs Padres player props, as his strikeout prop is simply too low.

Nola’s strikeouts over/under is set at 5.5, one K lower than Snell’s. Both were phenomenal in their last postseason start, while Nola has been nearly unhittable in each of his past three outings.

PHI vs SD Prop #1: Aaron Nola Over 5.5 Strikeouts
Nola has allowed only one run total over his past three starts against some pretty elite competition. He shut out Houston down the stretch, then did the same to St. Louis in the Wild Card Round.
Aaron Nola’s night is done.

Nola did allow a run in the NLDS against Atlanta, but it was unearned. He hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last 19.1 innings, while posting a 21-to-3 strikeout-to-walk rate.
Nola has recorded at least six k’s in six straight outings, and in all but seven of his 34 starts in 2022. The last time he faced San Diego back in June, he whiffed 10 Padres over 7 phenomenal innings.
Pick: Aaron Nola Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-102), 1 unit
Phillies vs Padres Prop #2: J.T. Realmuto 1+ Hits
San Diego starter Blake Snell has an immaculate track record against the Phillies. He’s held current Philly hitters to a .190 batting average over 63 at-bats, and just six extra-base hits.
One hitter that’s had his number however, is J.T. Realmuto. The Phillies catcher is 4-for-10 lifetime versus Snell, with a double, a homer, and 3 RBI.

Realmuto failed to record a hit in Game 1, snapping a four-game playoff hitting streak. He’s recorded at least one hit in five of Philadelphia’s seven postseason contests, and is a strong bet to do so again on Wednesday.
Pick: J.T. Realmuto 1+ Hits (-170), 1 unit
Philadelphia vs San Diego Prop #3: Juan Soto 1+ Home Runs
Both Nola and Snell do an excellent job at keeping the ball in the yard. Nola’s yielded just 19 home runs in 34 starts, while Snell has coughed up only 12 dingers in 26 outings.
That makes selecting a home run prop extremely difficult in the Phillies vs Padres player props, but it’s hard to argue with Juan Soto’s +420 odds. Soto has taken Nola deep three times in his career, the most of any player in this game against the opposing pitcher.

The Padres right field has plenty of history against Nola thanks to his time in Washington, and owns an impressive .606 slugging percentage and 1.095 OPS against him over 33 at-bats.
Pick: Juan Soto 1+ Home Runs (+420), 0.25 units
