Ross Stripling is in need of a bounce-back game, which could come with the Dodgers sitting as moneyline favorites against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. Find out if we think he's the best bet, or if Colorado's Antonio Senzatela can outshine him.
  • The Dodgers and Rockies close out a three-game series on Sunday (Aug. 23rd, 4:10pm ET)
  • Colorado is trying to push back into the playoff race after a recent skid

The Los Angeles Dodgers take their MLB-best record into Sunday’s series finale against the Colorado Rockies. L.A. will send Ross Stripling to the mound, who is tied for the team lead in wins (three) but has the worst ERA in the Dodgers’ rotation (5.61). Colorado counters with Antonio Senzatela (3-0, 2.90 ERA).

If Senzatela has his way, this might not be an easy afternoon for the Dodgers. Then again, L.A. is gunning for the sweep. Here’s a look at the Dodgers vs. Rockies odds.

Dodgers vs Rockies Odds

Team Moneyline Runline Over/Under Run Total at DraftKings
Los Angeles Dodgers -230 -1.5 (-116) Over 9 (-122)
Colorado Rockies +198 +1.5 (-102) Under 9 (+100)

Odds as of Aug. 23rd.

Sensational Senzatela

There’s something criminal about Antonio Senzatela’s 3-0 record — it should be 4-0. In his last start, he tossed eight shutout innings (allowing only three hits) in a no-decision. He has completed at least six innings in four consecutive starts, which is always a boon for the bullpen.

Unfortunately for Senzatela, his recent run of success will be tested by an unfriendly foe. In his past five outings against the Dodgers — four of which came in 2019 — he has an unsightly 6.56 ERA.

A few Dodgers have done notable damage to him, including A.J. Pollock, who is slashing a productive .276/.323/.517 this season.

Get-Right Game For Ross?

Ross Stripling was a model of consistency through his first four seasons in the majors, maintaining a sub-4.00 ERA (though never lower than 3.00) in each campaign.

That makes the early stages of the 2020 season stand out for Stripling (3-1, 5.61 ERA), and not in a good way. The one-time All Star has made it through six innings in just one of five starts and was particularly roughed up his last time out — allowing seven runs on eight hits in only three innings.

Good news, Ross! Sunday’s opponent, Colorado, is a team you’ve succeeded against in the past.

Stripling does indeed have a 3.60 ERA in four career starts against the Rockies … but that’s a fairly small sample and all of those games came between 2016 and 2018. So yes, it could be a get-right game for the Dodgers righty, but past results shouldn’t be much of a factor.

Rockies Career Stats vs Stripling

Nolan Arenado 1 0 0 .000

Dodgers Are On Fire

Seriously, how could you not roll with the Dodgers right now? Yes, they needed a walk-off to win on Saturday, but that’s the thing — good teams find ways to win.

The Dodgers are now winners in 10 of their past 11. They’ve also now beaten the Rockies in their only two meetings this year.

Additionally, the Dodgers own the best team ERA in the majors (2.63) and have the sixth-best OPS (.783). Right now, this is a team worth wagering on in almost every scenario.

Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers (-230)
