  • UFC Fight Night 155 goes down Saturday, July 13th at 5:00 p.m. ET
  • Can Urijah Faber return to the win column after halting his retirement?
  • Which Invicta FC Strawweight champion will notch a UFC victory?

UFC Fight Night 155 gown down Saturday, July 13th at Golden1 Center in Sacramento, California. A couple of high stakes bantamweight bouts are at the top of the marquee. The inaugural UFC featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie takes on surging contender Aspen Ladd in the main event. In the co-feature, Urijah Faber returns after announcing his retirement to take on the much-buzzed-about Ricky Simon. There are also some fun prize fights littered throughout the card.

Let’s examine the most compelling underdogs and break down the odds!

Emmett Secures Another Gritty Victory

Emmett vs Bektic is a fight that has hardcore MMA fans salivating. On an individual level, it’s electric but it becomes even more riveting when you notice where they train. Emmett trains out of Team Alpha Male and Bektic has been putting in work with Tristar Gym as of late.

Josh Emmett vs Mirsad Bektic Odds

Fighter Odds at Sportsbook 1 Odds at Sportsbook 2
Josh Emmett +135 +135
Mirsad Bektic -155 -165

*Odds taken 07/11/19

Many are high on Bektic after back-to-back wins on the heels of his lone career loss. Even with that one L, Bektic was dominating the majority of the contest. Bektic lost via a come from behind, last-minute win and Emmett is someone who has a knack for securing those kinds of victories.

I have Emmett winning at UFC Fight Night 155.

Pick: Emmett (+135)

Faber Wins His Return Bout

UFC Fight Night 155 takes over Sacramento so of course, you need The California Kid on the card. The UFC Hall of Famer retired after defeating Brad Pickett in late-2016. Urijah Faber had been competing on the submission grappling circuit since, but the itch to return to MMA became too great. Faber is not taking a gimme fight here as he jumps right back in with a former LFA champion. Simon is riding a three-fight win streak and is 14 years Faber’s junior.

Urijah Faber vs Ricky Simon Odds

Fighter Odds at Sportsbook 1 Odds at Sportsbook 2
Urijah Faber +285 +260
Ricky Simon -350 -340

Simon’s lone career loss comes via rear naked choke and Faber has wins stemming from a variety of different chokes. Faber seems hyper-focused and ready to get back at it.

I see Urijah Faber winning his big return bout.

Pick: Faber (+285)

Renata Souza Moves Past Van Buren

Hardcore WMMA fans are ecstatic about this bout between accomplished Invicta FC champions. Souza has only one career loss, last tasted defeat over three years ago, and is riding an impressive win streak since then. Van Buren hasn’t lost in MMA for over four years, won three fights in a single night in her last in-cage foray, and captured a strawweight tournament title for Invicta FC’s inaugural Phoenix Rising event.

Livia Renata Souza vs Brianna Van Buren Odds

Fighter Odds at Sportsbook 1 Odds at Sportsbook 2
Livia Renata Souza +105 EVEN
Brianna Van Buren -125 -130

Renata Souza and Van Buren are looking to jockey for position in the 115 lb division. A statement win here could launch the winner towards a top 15 spot in the ever-growing strawweight ranks.

Both women have a myriad of impressive submission finishes to their credit. The grappling end of things could prove engaging and I think there could be some riveting grappling sequences. I think Livia Renata Souza’s punching power will be the big X-factor here though.

Pick: Renata Souza (+105)
