Volkanovski vs Rodriguez Odds & Predictions

Featherweight kingpin Alexander Volkanovski returns to the Octagon at UFC 290.

Renowned for his potent striking and impenetrable defense, Alexander Volkanovski has left a trail of high-calibre opponents in his wake. Destroying the likes of Chad Mendes, Jose Aldo, Max Holloway and Chan Sung Jung will get you to the top of the UFC’s rankings pretty quickly.

In contrast, Yair Rodriguez is an incredibly unique and unpredictable fighter. Rodriguez uses his athleticism to the fullest. With a whirlwind of spectacular kicks and agile movements inside the Octagon, Rodriguez’s high-flying strikes could end the fight at any moment.

Rodriguez’ unpredictability is the real wildcard in this bout. His flashy striking could pose a problem early for Volkanovski. Underestimating the Mexican fighter is a mistake. After all, his only losses in the past decade have come to UFC champions Frankie Edgar and Max Holloway.

That being said, Alexander Volkanovski is a different beast all together. His tactical brilliance will prove to be too much down the stretch for Rodriguez. Look for Volkanovski to take control as the fight enters the championship rounds.

Volkanovski vs Rodriguez Picks: Alexander Volkanovski by decision (+110), Over 4.5 total rounds (-160)

Moreno vs Pantoja Odds & Prediction

Saturday’s co-main event sees reigning flyweight champion Brandon Moreno battle Alexandre Pantoja in a clash that could redefine the UFC’s flyweight division.

With 11 career victories by submission, Moreno’s slick submission skills could put an end to this fight at any moment.

Meanwhile, Alexandre Pantoja is no slouch. The Rio de Janeiro native boasts 10 career submission victories himself. In fact, Pantoja has finished his last two UFC fights by rear naked choke. He’ll be a live underdog heading into the UFC 290 co-main event.

This bout is a rematch of an exhibition at the Ultimate Fighter Season 24 in 2016. That time around Pantoja won the fight via second-round rear naked choke. However, Moreno has improved immensely since 2016, and will be a hungry for revenge at UFC 290. Take Moreno to retain his belt in what could be the fight of the night.

Moreno vs Pantoja Pick: Brandon Moreno to win (-195)
