Lewis vs Spivak Odds & Prediction

Derrick Lewis is coming off a pair of crushing defeats that have left him with just one victory in his past four fights. Lewis lasted just 55 seconds in his last outing, a TKO loss to Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 277, a defeat that came just five months after last February’s second-round TKO loss to Tai Tuivasa at UFC 271.

Humbled by a first-round TKO at the hands of Tom Aspinall at UFC Vegas 36 in September 2021, Sergey Spivak has rebounded in impressive fashion in two octagon appearances this season. The 27-year-old effectively ended Greg Hardy’s career with a first-round TKO finish at UFC 272, and established himself in the UFC heavyweight rankings with a second-round TKo win over Augusto Sakai last time out at UFC Vegas 59.

A fan favorite affectionately known as the “Black Beast”, Derrick Lewis’ sports impressive punching power that should not be underestimated. The 37-year-old has seen 21 of his 26 career victories come by KO and TKO, and now holds the UFC record for most knockouts after finishing Chris Daukaus in the first round in his last victory at UFC Vegas 45.

While Lewis is well equipped to go toe-to-toe with Spivac, he faces a challenge if the action goes to the mat. While he has eight career knockdowns to his credit, he has just two takedowns to his credit over his past five fights, and has not tallied a submission win in over 12 years.

Cyril Gane (loss – TKO) Fight 4 Alexey Oleynik (win – unanimous decision)
Curtis Blaydes (win – KO) Fight 5 Jared Vandreaa (win – TKO)

Now perched at No. 12 in the UFC heavyweight rankings, Sergey Spivak has silenced the doubters with back-to-back impressive finishes. His victories over Hardy and Sakai represent a reverse in fortune for the 27-year-old, who fell to defeat in three of his first six UFC contests.

While his recent success strengthens his credentials as a power puncher, Spivak is also an accomplished grappler, with six of his first 10 career wins coming by submission. “Polar Bear” is also the all-time leader among UFC heavyweights with takedown accuracy of 63.6%, and 21 total takedowns in just nine total octagon appearances.

Pick: Spivak (-190); OVER 1.5 rounds (-115)

Cuțelaba vs Nzechukwu Odds & Prediction

A dominant power puncher during the early days of his pro MMA career fighting in Eastern Europe, Ion Cutelaba has struggled to duplicate that success since joining the UFC back in 2016.

The 28-year-old Moldovan has claimed the win in just five of 13 trips to the octagon, and has earned just one win in his past six outings, a three-round unanimous decision win over Devin Clark last year at UFC Vegas 37.

Dustin Jacoby (draw – split) Fight 4 Danilo Marques (win – TKO)
Magomed Ankalaev (loss – KO) Fight 5 Carlos Ulberg (win – KO)

Kennedy Nzechukwu has been on a roller coaster since arriving in the UFC in 2019. “African Savage” received a rude welcome to the promotion with a third-round submission loss to Paul Craig at UFC on ESPN 2, but earned a pair of performance bonuses during a subsequent three-fight win streak.

While he has just one submission win to his credit, Nzechukwu is comfortable with level changes. The 30-year-old Nigerian piled up five takedowns and over 10 minutes control in his recent KO win over Karl Robeson, and ranks among the all-time UFC light heavyweight leaders with an 82.6% takedown defense.

Pick: Nzechukwu (-175); UNDER 1.5 rounds (-105)

Other UFC Vegas 65 Picks

  • Maryna Moroz (-175): Moroz offers lots of value against Jennifer Maia in a battle of fighters headed in opposite directions
  • Andre Fialho (-105): Fialho is a force of nature inside five minutes, and could finish things quickly against Muslim Salikhov, who looked slow in his recent loss to Li Jiangliang
  • Vince Morales (+125): Accomplished at going the distance, and still capable of a one-punch finish , Morales is a high-value underdog in his likely slugfest with Miles Johns.
