Santos vs Ankalaev Odds, Prediction & Best Bet

Magomed Ankalaev has looked the real deal, and many have pegged him as a future champion. Should he win here, which will likely be the toughest test of his career against Thiago Santos, a title shot could very well be next.

Santos vs Ankalaev Recent Fights

Santos
VS
Ankalaev
Johnny Walker, win by decision Fight 1 Volkan Oezdemir, win by decision
Aleksandar Rakic, loss by decision Fight 2 Nikita Krylov, win by decision
Glover Teixeira, loss by submission Fight 3 Ion Cutelaba, win by KO
Jon Jones, loss by split decision (title fight) Fight 4 Ion Cutelaba, win by TKO

This should be a phenomenal fight as both Santos and Ankalaev are known for their striking and both have one-punch KO power. Although both are known for their striking, it won’t be a surprise if the Russian decides to wrestle Santos as he likely has the grappling advantage.

Santos vs Ankalaev Stats

Santos hasn’t looked himself since he suffered the split decision loss to Jones in a fight he tore both of his knees in. Since then, he has been hesitant as he was submitted by Glover Teixeira and didn’t throw much volume, and was tentative against both Rakic and Walker. If the Brazilian is tentative, Ankalaev will be at range and just piece him up with his hands and leg kicks.

Given this is Ankalaev’s first UFC main event, I do expect the Russian to not be as aggressive as he usually is in the first round as he will try and pace himself to go 25 minutes if needed. However, I don’t think the judges will be involved as Ankalaev has legit power, and once he starts piecing up the Brazilian and will hurt him badly and finish him with strikes in the second or third round to get the biggest win of his career.

He’s the best parlay piece for this weekend but look for Ankalaev by KO/TKO or inside the distance for more value. If bettors are looking to bet the other side, check out the FanDuel Sportsbook UFC Vegas 50 odds. Santos is priced at +360 instead of +325.

Pick: Magomed Ankalaev (-480)

Moraes vs Yadong UFC Vegas 50 Pick

Marlon Moraes could very well be fighting for his job on Saturday night as the former UFC title challenger is on a three-fight skid and 1-4 in his last five. But, he gets another striker in Song Yadong, which gives him a chance to win.

Moraes & Yadong Recent Fights

Moraes
VS
Yadong
Merab Dvalishvili, loss by TKO Fight 1 Julio Arce, win by TKO
Rob Font, loss by TKO Fight 2 Casey Kenney, win by decision
Cory Sandhagen, loss by KO Fight 3 Kyler Phillips, loss by decision
Jose Aldo, win by split decision Fight 4 Marlon Vera, win by decision

Yadong is just a younger, faster version of Moraes which will show on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 50. Moraes’ cardio has been the biggest knock on him in his career as if it gets past the first round, he can’t keep up and fades. The first round will be competitive, but Yadong has a good enough chin to survive the early flurry and then start piecing up Moraes to win by TKO in the second round.

The odds are a bit too high as Moraes has the power to get the KO but look for Yadong inside the distance to find better value.

Pick: Song Yadong (-250)

Other UFC Vegas 50 Picks:

  • Sodiq Yusuff (-225): Yusuff will be able to keep the fight standing and piece up Caceres on the feet to win a clear-cut decision.
  • Khalil Rountree (-118): Rountree has been so inconsistent in his career, but this is a really good line as Rountree as he is the better striker and will piece up Roberson on the feet to win a decision.
  • Drew Dober (-205): McKinney took this fight on short notice and will likely fade as the fight gets to the later rounds as Dober will win a close decision by out striking McKinney.
  • Alex Pereira (-177): Pereira is a phenomenal striker and has a KO win over Adesanya in kickboxing. He will find the KO shot in the second round.
