NBA Betting – Warriors Meet Spurs in Battle of Titans

San Antonio Spurs vs Golden State Warriors (-3, 210.5 o/u)
The top two teams in the Association will go head to head tonight when the San Antonio Spurs (38-6, 14-6 Away) meet the Golden State Warriors (40-4, 20-0 Home) at ORACLE Arena (10:30 PM Eastern). The two Western Conference powers have a combined record of 78-10, the best mark at this stage of the season in NBA history.
They Spurs and Warriors have yet to meet this season. Golden State head coach Steve Kerr is eager to have his squad tested Press. “Win or lose, both teams will really benefit from playing against each other,” said Kerr to the Associated Press.
The Spurs come into tonight’s heavyweight tilt on a 13-game win streak and sit just three games back of the Warriors for top spot in the Western Conference. The team has yet to lose in 2016, last falling on Christmas day to the Rockets (88-84).
They haven’t faced the stiffest of competition of late, downing the Lakers, Mavs, and Suns in their last three. But they’ve been winning in dominant fashion, averaging a 23.3-point margin of victory.
The Spurs will be minus ageless wonder Tim Duncan tonight, however. Duncan has been ruled out with a sore knee.
“Tim is 57 years old, so he deserves a night off every once in a while,” joked Kerr to the AP.
Whether he deserves a game off or not, today is a bad one to miss. The Warriors have yet to lose at home, rolling to a perfect 20-0 start. The squad also lost just once at Oracle last regular season.
“There’s no doubt that players will look at it like more than that [just a game],” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said to the AP. “They can’t help it. They’ll be playing the best team in the league, and they’ll be fired up about that.”
The Warriors are averaging a staggering 114.7 points per game, far and away the best in the league. The Spurs, on the other hand, get the job done with defense, holding opponents to an NBA-best 89.8 PPG. Something will have to give tonight and, with Duncan out, expect it to be San Antonio’s 13-game win streak.
