Memphis Grizzlies at Golden State Warriors (-19, 212.5 o/u)

A record that not many thought would be broken is se to tumble tonight when the Golden State Warriors (72-9, 38-2 Home) look for their 73rd win of the season as they host the Memphis Grizzlies (42-39, 16-24 Away) at ORACLE Arena (10:30 PM Eastern).

Unless you’ve been living under the Golden Gate Bridge – or you really don’t give a care about NBA basketball (in which case, what are you doing here?) – you already know that Golden State is on the verge of breaking the ’95-’96 Chicago Bulls’ single season wins record. While most players and teams tend to downplay the significance of regular season accolades, this one is truly historic, and the Warriors know it.

“It’s a big deal for sure,” Steph Curry said to the Associated Press. “It’s our last regular-season game, our last tuneup before the playoffs and nobody wants to lose their last game going into the playoffs if you can avoid it, and obviously 73. We want to get that number.”

The spread opened at 16.5 but it’s climbed to 19 points, which is absurd. Golden State can cover the spread; they have enough offensive weapons. But there isn’t much value on laying down 19 points.

Yes, the Grizzlies have been decimated by injuries. (They’ve used 28 different players this season.) But they’re still a team headed for the playoffs that will put in a decent effort, just like they did against the Warriors at home last week, falling by a point (100-99).

Instead, consider the over/under. Memphis is a defensiv-minded team that likes to play slow, but the total has gone over in four of the team’s last five games on the road. With Curry and company eager to hit the playoffs on a high-note, the Warriors should do their part to hit the over as well.

Pick: OVER (212.5).
