NBA Title Odds – No Surprise, Warriors Team to Beat

Back in the preseason, we set the early odds for the 2016 NBA Title. We’re only a couple months into the season, but the future postseason landscape is already a little clearer.
The Warriors have used the disrespect of being an insulting second in the odds as motivation, roaring to a 29-1 start. (Perhaps the only thing more shocking than their 29-1 record is the fact that their lone loss came at the hands of the 12-20 Milwaukee Bucks!) Needless to say, the Warriors have moved up a spot.
But getting out of the fearsome Western Conference won’t be an easy feat. The Spurs – who came into the year tied with Golden State at 5/1 to win the title – are a remarkable 27-6 on the year, including 18-0 at home. The LaMarcus Aldridge signing is looking like the boon it was predicted to be.
The Cavs aren’t dominating the weaker East like many expected, but they still top the conference at 20-9 and it’s hard to see which of the future-also-rans are going to challenge their supremacy come playoff time. The Hawks (20-13) couldn’t get it done last year in their record-setting season, and have taken a minor step back this year. The Pacers (18-12) have a good a chance as any to knock off LeBron, but Paul George and company have been sub-par on the road (7-8) and will almost certainly cede home-court to the Cavs in the postseason.
New Orleans has been the biggest disappointment of the year. After squeaking into the playoffs on the final day last year, Anthony Davis looked primed to lead his young team to new heights in 2015. But the Pelicans have limped to a 10-21 start thanks to an abysmal 3-15 road record. Once a respectable 45/1 to win the title, New Orleans has fallen drastically.
