The Brooklyn Nets sit in a major 0-2 hole heading back home for Game 3 on Thursday against the Philadelphia 76ers in desperate need of a win. The tip-off for this contest at the Barclays Center is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET and can be seen on TNT.

While it was a low-scoring affair in Game 2, the Sixers cruised to a 96-84 win on Monday behind a 33-point night from Tyrese Maxey. That’s now six victories in a row for Philly against Brooklyn.

Philly in Cruise Control

The 76ers were never expected to have much of a problem with the Nets and that’s basically been the case so far. Doc Rivers’ squad has locked down defensively and their Big 3 of Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Maxey are all doing their part.

Despite scoring just 96 points in Game 2, there were lots of positive takeaways. Maxey balled out to lead the way and played more minutes than any other player in the rotation, while Embiid put up 20 points and grabbed 19 rebounds. Harden had a rather quiet evening with just eight points, but Tobias Harris made his presence felt with 20 points and 12 boards.

19 turnovers are by no means something that Rivers will like. However, Philadelphia killed Brooklyn on the glass, outrebounding them 56-33. They also outplayed their opponents on second-chance points and interior scoring. The Sixers are in cruise control.

Will Brooklyn’s Offense Wake up?

Yes, the 76ers defense is playing well. But, the Nets offense is also just ice-cold outside of Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson. They’re struggling immensely to generate any scoring.

Johnson was cooking Monday with 28 points, while Bridges continues to cement his star status with another 21 points in Game 2. Outside of the two former Phoenix Suns, no one is helping out. Nic Claxton had a goose egg and Spencer Dinwiddie has just 26 points through the first two contests of the series.

It was always going to be an uphill battle beating Philadelphia, but Jacque Vaughn’s squad isn’t giving themselves much of a chance. I mean, they shot under 40% from the field and long-range a few nights ago. Brooklyn also failed to show up in the second half, getting outscored 52-35. This team needs to start knocking down shots, or else an 0-3 hole will be the reality.

76ers vs Nets Player Props to Target

The first one we’re looking at is Mikal Bridges the over in points. His total is set at 26.5 here, which is realistic. The former Villanova standout is the main option for the Nets and about one of their only players actually showing out in the series. Bridges scored 30 points in Game 1 and has hit the over in seven of his last 12 games. If Brooklyn is going to have a fighting chance, Bridges will need to be at his best. I expect him to step up at home and lead the charge.

  • Pick: Mikal Bridges Over 26.5 Points at FanDuel (-113)

It’s pretty clear by now that Brooklyn doesn’t have the physicality or length to compete with the Sixers on the glass. That’s why Joel Embiid is going to dominate the boards again Thursday. His total in rebounds is set at 11.5 and of course, he just reeled in 19 on Monday. While he’s only hit the over in three of the last six outings, it’s difficult to not bet on this player prop when he nearly just doubled his total.

  • Joel Embiid over 11.5 rebounds (-111)

76ers vs Nets Prediction

Brooklyn hasn’t shown any signs of turning things around. The Sixers meanwhile are probably going to get a couple of bounce-back performances from a scoring standpoint from Embiid and Harden. Plus, they’re one of the best ATS road teams in the league. Philly will take a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Pick: 76ers -4.5 (-110)
