The Joel Embiid-less Philadelphia 76ers (23-15, 7-9 away) head to Motown Sunday for the first of two-straight games against the last-place Detroit Pistons (11-31, 5-13 home) at Little Caesars Arena. The tip-off is scheduled for 3 pm ET. Find the 76ers vs Pistons odds below.

Philly has been playing good basketball as of late but they did lose by 14 points to the Chicago Bulls on Friday. Mostly due to Zach LaVine’s hot hand. Detroit also dropped their last contest, 121-109 to the San Antonio Spurs.

Philadelphia already beat the Pistons in December by 20 points. This is their second meeting of the campaign.

Philadelphia 76ers Need More From Mazey, Harden

This will be Embiid’s third straight game missed due to left foot soreness, but the 76ers have managed to go 1-1 in his absence.

With that being said, Tyrese Maxey and James Harden need to carry the load offensively in his place. And with Tucker also on the shelf, Montrezl Harrell likely gets the start at the five. He looked solid Friday, dropping 17 points off the bench.

In fact, it was actually a really impressive performance from the entire rotation from a scoring standpoint. Maxey started to find a groove since returning from injury with 26 points, while Tobias Harris had 22. The Beard contributed 17 points and 11 dimes, too.

Four players finished with a minimum of 17 points.

The loss simply came down to the Sixers’ inability to stop LaVine in particular. He went off for 41 points, including 11 triples. Chicago shot 59% from deep.

It’s hard to win when your opponent is that hot from beyond the arc. No Tucker and Embiid hurts, but Doc Rivers’ group should be able to cruise on Sunday. Four wins in their last five against the Pistons is certainly a positive sign.

Detroit Pistsons Struggles Continue

The rebuild is in full effect for Detroit. The team sits in 15th place in the Eastern Conference with an 11-31 record, winning just three of their previous 10 outings.

While a win over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday was undoubtedly a pleasant surprise, the Pistons fell back down to earth on Friday, losing to the Spurs, who lost Keldon Johnson early and also had no Devin Vassell.

Dwane Casey’s squad struggled to contain San Antonio, who received a collective effort from numerous guys in the rotation. The Spurs shot nearly 40% from long range and 56% overall. They had no problem getting good looks.

Offensively, Jaden Ivey continued his efficient rookie campaign, scoring 20 points and dishing out five assists. Veteran Bojan Bogdanovic also posted 21 points. Detroit is still without Marvin Bagley, who just underwent hand surgery and will miss nearly two months. Franchise star Cade Cunningham is of course out for the season due to a left tibial stress fracture.

76ers vs Pistons Prediction

The Sixers have won by an average of 13 points against the Pistons during this 4-1 run dating back to May 2021. Despite the absence of Embiid and Tucker, Philly should easily be able to cover. Detroit won’t pose a threat.

Pick: 76ers -6.0 (-110)
