The Philadelphia 76ers (3-4, 2-2 away) will be looking to continue their two-game win streak on Monday night as they face the Washington Wizards (3-3, 2-1 home) in DC. The tip-off for this Eastern Conference matchup is scheduled for 7 PM ET at Capital One Arena. Read on for the 76ers vs Wizards prediction.

Philly is starting to find a rhythm, securing back-to-back victories over the Toronto Raptors and the Chicago Bulls, bringing them close to .500 ball. As for the Wizards, they were blown out of the water by the Boston Celtics on Sunday. It’ll be a quick turnaround for them here.

Can Philly Keep It Going?

The Sixers started off 1-4, raising a lot of question marks. After such an active offseason, why wasn’t Philadelphia clicking? Could James Harden’s success translate into wins? Well, who would’ve known, but it only took Joel Embiid missing Friday’s matchup against the Raptors to get this team going.

Tyrese Maxey erupted for 44 points in the win and with Embiid returning to action Saturday, Doc Rivers’ squad put together another impressive performance as they took down the Bulls, 114-109. The big man led the way this time around with 25 points, seven rebounds, and four assists while hitting a huge triple late in the contest.

Every single starter but PJ Tucker finished with a minimum of 10 points. Harden had just 15 but he dished out 11 dimes, helping Philly shoot a blistering 48% from beyond the arc, one of their best nights from downtown yet. Good looks were coming from everywhere and that’ll need to continue on Monday against a Wizards team who just let their last two opponents drain nearly 50% of their three-pointers.

Tough Schedule Ahead For DC

Washington’s difficult stretch began on Sunday versus Boston and will continue for the next week, with Philly in back-to-back games, the Nets, and the Grizzlies. It’s going to be a good test for a team that isn’t exactly considered to be much  of a contender in the heavily-competitive East.

This Celtics defeat was a very poor showing from the Wizards though, shooting just 39% from the field and a putrid 22% from deep. They also allowed Boston to make it rain at a 45% clip from three-point land, scoring more than half their points via the trey. Wes Unseld Jr’s group never led here and even trailed by 25 at one point.

It was truly a quiet night from the entire rotation, with Kristap Porzingis’ 17 points and 13 rebounds a team-high. Franchise star Bradley Beal had a measly 12 points and eight assists. While it’s crucial Beal in particular leads by example on Monday, the perimeter defense has to be a mile better because the Sixers are shooting the ball very well right now and will certainly be looking to use that to their advantage again.

76ers vs Wizards Prediction

Philly is trending upwards and both of their recent wins came on the road. the Wizards looked brutal against Boston. Given the way the Sixers are sinking triples and Washington’s lackluster defense, I’m liking the visitors on the spread.

Pick: 76ers -4.5 (-110)
