Celtics Looking Unstoppable

You’ll have a hard time finding a team in the NBA as hot as the Celtics. Ime Udoka’s squad went from a fringe playoff team in late 2021 to a legitimate contender in the East in a matter of months. Since January, Boston is a stellar 26-9 and currently owns the top defense in the Association. After taking care of the Warriors on Wednesday, Boston followed it up with another blowout win in Sacramento.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 62 points on the night, becoming the first duo in franchise history to score 30+ points in the same game on five different occasions in a single season. That surpassed legends Larry Bird and Kevin McHale. It was a rather quiet game for the rest of the rotation though, with just two other finishing in double-digits.

Nevertheless, it was a lights-out performance in countless areas. The ball movement was phenomenal, dishing out 33 assists which resulted in numerous good looks as Boston shot a mind-boggling 55% from beyond the arc.

The Celtics also bodied the Kings in the paint on both ends. This was the second game in a row where they held their opponents to under 100 points. In the process, Udoka’s group outscored Sacramento and Golden State by a total of 51 points. Dominant.

Nuggets Looking to End Home Skid

Denver has gone 20-13 at Ball Arena in 2021-22, but they’ve lost two straight on their home floor heading into Sunday, falling to the Raptors and Warriors. However, the Nuggets’ recent road trip was certainly impressive, winning two of three and actually grabbing seven consecutive wins away from home before Friday’s heartbreaking defeat to the Cavaliers.

This was truly a game that Denver should’ve won. Michael Milone’s squad had a 92-78 lead with just 10 minutes left, but Cleveland proceeded to outscore them 29-15 for the remainder of the fourth.

Evan Mobley then cooked the Nuggets in overtime, scoring nine of his 27 points in the extra period. Despite blowing this contest, Nikola Jokic once again proved why he’s a serious contender for yet another MVP, erupting for 32 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.

Aaron Gordon also added 20 points, while Will Barton and Jeff Green added 10 apiece. The big problem here for Denver was their 18 turnovers, which resulted in a whole 29 points for Cleveland. The Nuggets have struggled to take care of the basketball all year long and will need to do a much better job on Sunday against a stout Celtics team who pride themselves on defense.

Celtics vs Nuggets Prediction

Boston is seriously a dangerous team right now and although they’re only 19-16 on the road, the Cs are having their way with the Nuggets across the last couple of seasons, beating them by an average of 12.5 points across the previous four meetings. With the spread at just three points, this is a no-brainer.

Pick: Celtics -3 (-110)
