Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets will be looking for a much-needed victory on Monday night as they wrap up a three-game homestand at the Barclays Center against the Utah Jazz. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST.

The Nets are coming off a big win on Friday vs Portland behind a 38-piece from KD, who continues to show out on a nightly basis. The Jazz meanwhile won their third game in a row, taking down the Knicks on Sunday.

Utah beat Brooklyn by 23 points in their last meeting in February, however, Durant was still sidelined due to injury.

Tough Spell Ahead for Brooklyn

The Nets currently sit at 37-34 in the East and at this point, it’s basically a foregone conclusion they’re going to be in the play-in. Brooklyn is in ninth place, one game above the Hornets and two and a half behind the Raptors, which means they would play Toronto in the tournament.

These next four games are going to be a very tough spell for Steve Nash’s squad as well, facing the Jazz, Grizzlies, Heat, and Hornets. Thankfully, the Nets will have Kyrie Irving for the last three. While it wasn’t easy, Brooklyn managed to pull one out on Friday against the Blazers, winning 128-123. Offensively, this was a promising performance, with five players finishing in double-figures, led by KD.

But on the defensive end, the Nets were sloppy. They committed a total of 21 turnovers which resulted in a whole 29 points for Portland. Nash’s squad trailed by 18 in the third and stormed back with a torrid run to tie the game at 101 heading into the final period and ultimately finished off their opponent thanks to a pair of big free throws from Seth Curry. Although Brooklyn was able to claw their way back into this game, it’s simply because the Blazers are that poor. If they come out slow from the get-go again on Monday, it’s going to be a long night.

Jazz Coming Into Their Own

Utah has struggled at times this season, but they’re thriving lately. The Jazz have won three of their last four games, but the rest of this road trip won’t be easy. After visiting Brooklyn, Donovan Mitchell and Co. face the Celtics, Hornets, Mavs, and Clippers. Quin Snyder’s squad doesn’t exactly play great away from home either, going just 19-15 in 2021-22.

Utah rolled into MSG on Sunday and beat the Knicks by 15, thanks to an absolute masterclass from Mitchell. The star guard showed out for 39 points, eight rebounds, and six assists while going 7 for 12 from downtown. Jordan Clarkson also dropped 23 off the bench. The Jazz bodied New York on the boards, outrebounding them 49-37, with six different players grabbing five rebounds or more in this contest.

Despite the impressive victory, Utah has been atrocious on back-to-backs, posting a 3-7 record. On a more positive note, at least they won’t have to deal with Kyrie Irving, who still can’t play at home due to the vaccine mandates in NYC.

Jazz vs Nets Prediction

Yes, Utah doesn’t play well on consecutive nights, but they’ve frankly dominated the Nets in recent memory, winning six of the last seven meetings dating back to November of 2018. With the spread at just a point, I like the Jazz on the moneyline here.
