Kings Looking to Finish on a High Note

Sacramento has finally ended its lengthy playoff drought and will head into the postseason as a No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and by the looks of it, they will be marching into Sunday seeking a win.

The Kings have lost back-to-back contests and have only listed Malik Monk and Davion Mitchell as questionable Sunday, which means the big guns like De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis are going to play.

With the two stars sitting Friday, Sacramento struggled to score the rock. The top offense in the league was held to just 97 points by the Dubs. Not one player finished with more than 15 points here and that was Trey Lyles. Expect Fox and Sabonis to ball out Sunday as they prepare for the playoffs. There would be no worst way than to close the regular season with three consecutive defeats.

Nuggets in a Rut

Denver has already clinched the top seed in the West and now awaits their first-round opponent from the play-in tournament. But, this team isn’t playing quality basketball right now by any means necessary.

The Nuggets were destroyed by the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, despite playing at full strength. Sunday, the role players kept it close with Phoenix but ultimately failed to get it done. Then Saturday, Michael Malone’s group was frankly outplayed by a Jazz squad without their main pieces.

Although the likes of Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr, and Aaron Gordon did their part, perhaps the most concerning stat line was Jokic’s. He posted just six points in 26 minutes of action, dishing out 10 assists and grabbing 10 rebounds as well.

The Joker has failed to score more than 14 points in back-to-back appearances. Very unlike him. But to be brutally honest, this was a low-effort game from Denver with nothing to play for except keeping that same chemistry. As we all know,  the Serb will step up when the stakes are highest. With Sunday’s affair being the tail end of a back-to-back, it’s highly unlikely the first-unit regulars play again. More minutes for the bench.

Kings vs Nuggets Prediction

Sacramento’s stars return and I highly doubt the Nuggets will roll out their main guys. I’m liking the Kings.

Pick: Kings moneyline  -112
