- Six NBA games are on the schedule for Saturday May 15th
- The Los Angeles Lakers vs the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat vs Milwaukee Bucks are two of the headline matchups
- Read below for the latest player prop odds and betting analysis
We’re into the final couple of days of the NBA regular season. Some teams are resting their key men, but others are going full throttle to compete for playoff, or play-in, positioning.
The Lakers take on the depleted Pacers, and are favored by a few points. Los Angeles needs to win to have a chance at escaping the play-in. Elsewhere, the Miami Heat face the Milwaukee Bucks. Miami is desperate to stay out of the six seed, and the Bucks will probably be keen for the Heat to do just that. The Bucks are only favored by a couple of points.
A lot of other games have little riding on them, but the Hornets and Knicks have it all to play for. Charlotte could yet drop into the bottom half of the play-in. New York, like Miami, is eyeing the five seed to evade the Bucks in the first round.

Butler Steps Up
Jimmy Butler has been awesome this season. He delivered in a big way when the Heat faced the Sixers a few days ago, and with Miami under pressure to get a win on Saturday, it would be foolish to bet against him.

The 22.5 points line might seem high for a player averaging 21.5 on the season. Butler has fluctuated between scorer and playmaker this term, putting up 7.1 dimes per game. That’s comfortably a career-high. His three-point shooting comes and goes, but as he picks his spots, he has occasional surprise games from the perimeter, which he did against the Sixers, going four-for-four from deep.
Butler is the driving force of the Heat. They are 11 points per 100 possessions better with him on the floor. Creating for others and scoring himself when required, the former Bull has repeatedly shown a knack for the big moments throughout his career. This game is significant for the Heat. These circumstances are seemingly made for Butler to do something special.
For all their struggles in 2021, Miami is a good team when Butler is on the floor. It’s that simple. They are seventh in net rating over the last 10 games. At the very least, they will push the Bucks all the way on Saturday.

The 29.5 points and assists line is where the value looks best. Butler has only reached 30 points and assists in four of his last nine, but the Bucks push the pace, which should generate enough extra possessions to get Butler’s numbers up.
Pick: Jimmy Butler over 29.5 points and assists (-115)
Randle Keeps Shooting
The Charlotte Hornets are 29th in opponent three-point rate. They allow three-point shots at a high number. Julius Randle is having not just a career-high from deep, he’s become a certified sniper, hitting 41.2% of his long range attempts on the season.

Although still clinging onto the eight seed, the Hornets have been a subpar defense in recent months. Injuries have taken their toll, and smaller lineups have been overmatched at times. Randle is going to be a matchup problem for Charlotte. He possesses the size and strength to bully their young wings like PJ Washington and Miles Bridges.
The Hornets are 19th in defensive rating over the last 15 games. For the season, they are 25th in opponent effective field goal percentage. They are a fun, highlight-laden, team to watch, but their defense has not been resilient. This is exactly the matchup the Knicks, who remain an average offensive team at best, thrive in.

Randle has slumped a bit from three of late. He’s made just six threes across his last five games. Over his last 11, though, he’s made over 2.5 threes seven times. The Hornets are the sort of team he can end his cold spell against.
Pick: Julius Randle over 2.5 threes (-130)
