If the NBA playoff bracket was finalized today, the Knicks would face the #5 Orlando Magic in the first round, but New York is only half a game behind Cleveland for the #3 seed and half a game of falling behind the Magic.

Miami is currently the #7 seed and would host the 7-vs-8 Play-In Game against the 76ers. The Heat are one game back of #6 Indiana with two games in hand (i.e. if Miami wins its next two, it will be tied for the #6 seed with six games remaining in the regular season).

Knicks Win Streak Ends with Two Close Losses

New York had won three straight and seven of eight before a 130-126 OT loss at San Antonio on Friday, spoiling a 61-point outburst from Jalen Brunson. Two days later, that setback became a two-game losing streak with a 113-112 heartbreaker at home to OKC. The Knicks blew a nine-point fourth-quarter lead thanks to a dagger from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 2.1 on the clock.

The Knicks’ injury report continues to be both long and talented. Julius Randle (shoulder) remains sidelined while OG Anunoby (elbow) will miss Tuesday’s game, as well. Mitchell Robinson (ankle) has been listed as questionable. Randle hasn’t played since Jan. 27 while Anunoby has been out since March 16.

The Knicks are 2-0 against the Heat so far this season, winning 100-98 on Nov. 24 and 125-109 on Jan. 27, both at Madison Square Garden.

Heat Pick Up Wins Over NBA Basement-Dwellers

Miami was riding an ugly 4-7 stretch prior to a pair of cupcake games against Portland and Washington on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The Heat did what they needed to, routing the Blazers 142-82 before topping the Wizards 119-107. On Tuesday, the Heat will have the chance to record their first three-game win streak since late February.

Deadline acquisition Terry Rozier had a team-high 27 points in the win over Washington, equalling his biggest output in a Miami jersey.

One of the hardest hit teams by injuries this season, Miami is healthier than it has been but still missing key bodies.

Tyler Herro (20.8 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 4.4 APG) is out with a foot injury, while Josh Richardson (9.9 PPG, 2.4 APG) is out due to shoulder surgery.

Rozier (16.1 PPG), Duncan Robinson (13.4 PPG), Caleb Martin (10.1 PPG), and Nikola Jovic (6.7 PPG) are all listed as probable due to various injuries.

Knicks vs Heat Prediction

Over the last month-plus, Miami has gone 8-8. Only two wins came against teams currently holding a top-ten seed in their conference and both of those were against a Cleveland squad missing Donovan Mitchell. Three of the other six victories came against NBA-worst Detroit (13-62). They also beat Portland (19-56), Utah (29-46), and Washington (14-61).

The Knicks are 9-6 in that same time span, including victories over Orlando (44-31), Sacramento (43-31), and Golden State (40-34).

Miami is one of the few NBA teams that has a better road record (22-16) than home record (19-17) this season, while the Knicks are four games over .500 on the road. This is a great spot to back the Knicks as moneyline underdogs.
