Maxey Continues Hot Streak

Without Ben Simmons, the Philadelphia 76ers definitely had some worries about the void left at point guard. However, Tyrese Maxey has taken their worries away so far this season. The 21-year-old has started all 13 games, posting averages of 17.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per contest. Those numbers are night and day from his rookie season in 2020/21, but then again, Maxey was coming off the bench.

The Sixers have dealt with some absences early on, but Maxey is keeping them afloat. The former Kentucky standout just erupted for 30+ in back-to-back games against the defending champions Milwaukee Bucks followed by the Toronto Raptors. Better yet, he’s scoring in every way imaginable. Maxey is shooting 38% from downtown and has shown the ability to get hot but his quickness and athleticism also allow him to drive to the cup and finish amongst bigs.

Coming into Saturday, Maxey has hit the over in points in three consecutive games. With Joel Embiid still out, the youngster is thriving with the increased workload. The Pacers are also the 17th worst defensive team in the NBA. His confidence is through the roof and that will result in another breakout performance.

Pick: Tyrese Maxey Over 16.5 Points (-116)

PG The Playmaker

Paul George showed what he was capable of in the playoffs just a number of months ago, leading LA to the Western Conference Finals despite Kawhi Leonard suffering a serious knee injury. He is back with a vengeance for the Kawhi-less Clippers, averaging 26.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists. PG is looking like a legitimate superstar, but his playmaking is what’s really standing out lately.

Since coming to Southern California, George has become a much better facilitator. With Leonard on the shelf as well, he’s being relied on to run the offense and find his shooters good looks. That being said, the veteran has hit the over in assists in five of his previous six games. Coincidentally enough, Los Angeles is unbeaten during that span.

The Timberwolves meanwhile possess several terrific players including Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards, but they’re poor on the defensive end, ranking 21st in the Association. George is going to continue his hot streak and have another big game while racking up the dimes in the process.

Pick: Paul George Over 5.5 Assists (-138)
