Embiid, 25, a 7-foot center, was Philadelphia’s first-round draft pick in 2014. Simmons, 22, a 6-10 point guard, was the top pick of the 76ers in the 2016 NBA draft.
Philadelphia Freedom is Coming for Some
The 76ers face a summer of negotiating and decision-making. Small forward Jimmy Butler and power forward Tobias Harris are free agents, and it’s difficult to come up with a mathematical formula that has both staying with the Sixers.
Of the two, at this point Butler seems more likely to remain.

There’s also the future of coach Brett Brown to be debated. There were published reports during Philly’s second round series against Toronto that if the team didn’t go further in the playoffs than last year, then Brown’s job was in jeopardy.
Embiid, Simmons Staying Put
Among the many moving parts in Philly’s equation, the chance that Simmons or Embiid will need to pack their bags this summer is the least likely to happen.

Rumors of an Embiid or Simmons for LeBron James deal have been floated, but that seems highly doubtful.

Simmons and Embiid are the core of this club. They’re young, they’re talented, and both still have plenty of room to grow and improve. Embiid’s post-Game 7 tears evidenced the passion he holds for this team.
James, Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal didn’t win NBA titles until they were 27.

It’s way too early for the Sixers to be giving up on either of their building blocks. Embiid and Simmons are staying put.
Bet on it.
