The Los Angeles Lakers (1-5, 1-2 home) finally got their first win of the season.
Next, they host the upstart New Orleans Pelicans (4-2, -1 away), who should have Zion Williamson in the lineup, though they’ll be missing Brandon Ingram.
LA isn’t clear of injury woes either. Anthony Davis aggravated his back injury on a putback late in the fourth quarter in their win over Denver. He was hobbled, but was able to shake it off and finish the contest. He’s questionable against his former team.
It all gets underway Wednesday night (November 2), from Crypto.com Arena at 10:30pm ET, in a game that can be seen live on NBA League Pass.

NOLA Can Make Playoffs & Win Draft Lottery
These teams are still linked since the Anthony Davis was traded to LA, a mega deal that included sent Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and Larry Nance Jr to the Pelicans, as well as a bevy of first-round draft picks and swaps.
It’s those assets that are most interesting, as NOLA has a pick swap with the Lakers in 2023.

After the Lakers’ rough start – they’re one of three teams with just a single win on the season — the Pels could make some noise in the playoffs and be in the running for prized consensus no. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama.
New Orleans Betting Analysis
After taking a hard fall in a game against Utah that forced him to sit for two games, Zion Williams looked great in his return, a 112-91 drubbing of the Los Angeles Clippers.
The top pick in the 2019 NBA Draft had 21 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, while also adding seven assists.

Back and hip pain are just a few other ailments Williamson will have to deal with, after he missed all of last year with a foot injury.
Keeping up with a team motto that “everyone eats”, New Orleans had all five starters score in double figures, and six overall. CJ McCollum had 22 points, five rebounds and three dimes, while Naji Marshall had 17 points, six rebounds and four dimes.

In his last three games, Marshall, the 2nd-year man has filled in admirably with Ingram out, averaging 17.6 points, five rebounds and 3.3 assists.
Ingram (concussion) didn’t make the trip to LA, while Herb Jones (knee ) and rookie Dyson Daniels (ankle) were also on the injury report, but should be available Wednesday night.
Los Angeles Betting Analysis
In the simplest terms, in a make or miss league, the Lakers finally made enough of them to get a 121-110 win over the Denver Nuggets.

LeBron James had 26 points, six rebounds and eight assists, while Davis chipped in with 23 points, 15 rebounds. As a team, the Lakers went 13-for-30 from three-point range, a 43.3% clip which was by far their best shooting outing from distance this season.
The Lakers also got a second great game by Russell Westbrook in a reserve role. He finished with 18 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in a tidy and energetic 32 minutes of work.

After failing to crack the 110-point plateau during their five-game losing skid to start the year, LA dropped a season-best 121 points. They’re still definitely an offensive work in progress, next-to-last in scoring at 105.3 points per game, and also 29th in field goal shooting (42.7%).
Even with that sharpshooting evening, the Lakers are still by far the worst three-point shooting team in the league, firing at a 26.6% clip.

Pelicans vs Lakers Prediction
Offense is no such problem for the Pels. They’re the third-highest scoring team in the NBA, and are shooting it at 48.9%, the third-best field goal shooting mark.
New Orleans can definitely splash from deep, ranking second in three-point shooting at 40%, and they’re seventh in assists. LA’s defense, which hasn’t been that bad — they’re tied for eighth in points allowed — will get tested.
