Thursday, October 6th is another full slate of preseason action in the Association and lots of betting value. It all starts bright and early in Abu Dhabi as the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks meet.
In the evening, the Miami Heat visit the Brooklyn Nets in what should be an exciting matchup. The Los Angeles Lakers are also on the tail-end of a back-to-back against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Six contests in total are on the docket, but the OKC Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers are playing teams from overseas. Continue reading for the NBA Preseason picks.

The Thunder are the biggest favorites on the board tonight, laying 13.5 points against the Adelaide 36ers out of Australia’s National Basketball League. The smallest spread is the Magic -3.5 versus San Antonio.
Pick #1: Heat vs Nets
The Heat and Nets will be both searching for their first preseason wins on Thursday. Miami fell 121-111 to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday without Jimmy Butler. It was a half-decent performance from Erik Spoelstra’s squad though, with four of their five starters finishing in double digits. Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro both dropped 22 points apiece, while Caleb Martin had 12. The difference-maker was their inability to defend in transition as Minny outscored them 30-5.
Final – Minnesota 121, Miami 111

Adebayo: 22pts, 6rebs

The Nets also lost earlier this week to the 76ers by 19 points, but it’s important to note, the entire rotation played equal minutes. That’s been the case for all teams so far in preseason. Kevin Durant had 13 points in 18 minutes, while Kyrie Irving posted nine points, four rebounds, and four assists. We also got a first glimpse at Ben Simmons in his first game in over a year, compiling six points, four boards, and dishing out five dimes. Brooklyn was absolutely bodied on the boards in this contest and had 27 turnovers. They need to clean it up against Miami.

Kyrie is unlikely to play here after having a baby on Tuesday. Butler rested in the opener, but there’s a good chance he suits up. This spread honestly favors the Nets more than I’d expect. There’s value in the Heat at +5 in the NBA Preseason picks, especially because they’ve won four of their last five against Brooklyn.
Pick: Heat +5 (-110)
Pick #2: Magic vs Spurs
It’s the battle of two rebuilding teams as the Magic and Spurs face off. Orlando dropped their first game 109-97 to the Memphis Grizzlies, getting outplayed both in transition and in the paint. Cole Anthony led the offense with 17 points, while Moritz Wagner had 15. Memphis put the clamps down on first-overall pick Paolo Banchero, who was held to just eight points in 23 minutes, including a 2 for 9 clip from the field.

The Spurs meanwhile were absolutely blown out by the Houston Rockets on Sunday, 136-94. Certainly not a great way to start the preseason and it all started off on the wrong foot right from the tip. Houston outscored them 30-17 in the opening quarter and continued to pour it on as the contest went on. The Rockets scored 68 points inside as opposed to just 36 for Gregg Popovich’s group. Devin Vassell’s 13 points were a team-high.

San Antonio has actually won five straight versus Orlando. Preseason is so unpredictable, but I do think the Magic should win this one. There’s just more talent on this team. It could be close though, therefore the moneyline is likely best in the NBA Preseason picks.
