The Houston Rockets pulled off the latest blockbuster trade in the NBA on Sunday, acquiring Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the #10 pick in the 2025 draft, and five second-round picks. The deal was a needle-mover for Houston, which bowed out in the first round of the playoffs this season despite being the #2 seed in the West.

The table below juxtaposes the current NBA title odds at DraftKings with the odds from prior to the Durant trade.

Current NBA championship odds as of June 22nd at DraftKings. Previous NBA Championship odds as of June 20nd at DraftKings.

Durant will be 37 years old by the time the 2025-26 season tips off and has averaged just 54.8 games per season over the last five years. He remains one of the game’s most-prolific scorers, though, averaging at least 26.6 PPG in each of those five seasons.

Durant’s teams have missed the playoffs only three times since 2010 (2015, the COVID-altered 2019-20, and this past season).

Houston’s Gain Is Miami, San Antonio’s Loss

According to oddsmakers, the big losers on Sunday were the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs, who were the other two teams in the running to acquire Durant from Phoenix. But one faded significantly farther than the other.

Miami, considered the favorite by many in the Durant sweepstakes, went all the way from +5000 (1.96% implied win probability) to +15000 (0.66%). The Spurs went from +1600 (5.88%) to +1800 (5.26%).

Phoenix was always a longshot to retrain Durant, so their 2026 NBA title odds stayed at +17000 after news of the trade broke.
