The Los Angeles Clippers will look to even the Western Conference Finals at two games apiece when they meet the Phoenix Suns at 9:00 p.m. ET Saturday in Game 4 at the Staples Center.
The Clippers got their first win of the best-of-seven series on Thursday in Game 3, 106-92 as 1.5-point underdogs. The Suns are again slight favorites in Game 4 with the spread at 1 and an over/under of 218.
Paul George led the Clippers on Thursday with 27 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists. Reggie Jackson added 23 points and Ivica Zubac finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds.
The Suns were topped by Deandre Ayton’s 18 points and nine rebounds. Chris Paul contributed 15 points and 12 assists.

Limiting The Point God’s Minutes
Paul played 38:48 in Game 3, which was more than anticipated after he sat out the first two games of the series because of the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

Suns coach Monty Williams says he wants to curtail Paul’s playing time Saturday. However, that could be easier said than done as backup point guard Cameron Payne, who torched the Clippers for 29 points and nine assists in Game 1, was limited to 4:19 in Game 3 because of a left ankle injury.
Williams reported that Payne was feeling better Friday. However, it will be difficult to resist taking Paul off the floor.
As mentioned above, Paul dished out 12 assists in Game 3. The “Point God” averaged 8.9 dimes in the regular season and his average is slightly above that in the playoffs at 9.0.

The Suns need to play the long game here with Paul, who is 36 years old, to keep him fresh through what they hope will be a run to the franchise’s first title, though. Look for his minutes to decrease in Game 4 as well as his assists total.

Zubac Back for Clippers
Clippers big man Ivica Zubac barely played in the last two games of the Wester Conference semifinals when Los Angeles knocked off the top-seeded Utah Jazz in six games.
Zubac, though, has certainly been a factor in this series. He has played at least 30 minutes in two of the first three games, including posting the double-double Thursday.

The 16 rebounds in Game 3 were a playoff career high for the three-year veteran. He is averaging 12.7 points and 10.0 rebounds in the series.
While Zubac’s primary role is on defense, where he is being asked to slow down Deandre Ayton, the native of Bosnia and Herzegovina is putting up solid numbers. Look for Zubac to again make a notable contribution on the offensive end.
