San Antonio is 6-13 overall and is 3-7 in its last 10 games, currently on the outside of the playoff picture in the West. The Spurs are coming off of a 116-99 win over the Washington Wizards on Monday.

Portland is 11-11 on the year and is 6-4 in its last 10 contests, holding onto the final spot in the postseason picture. The Trail Blazers most recently defeated the Detroit Pistons 110-92 on Tuesday.

Injury Report

Portland will be without Damian Lillard (abdomen) and Nassir Little (ankle), with Normal Powell questionable with a quad injury.

For San Antonio, Zach Collins (ankle) is listed as out, while Doug McDermott (knee) and Devin Vassell (quad) are questionable leading into the contest.

Spurs Playing Well As of Late

During a two-week span in the middle of November, San Antonio went through a rough six-game losing streak to quickly fall to the bottom of the conference.

The Spurs have started to turn that around with a two-game winning streak and look to continue that recent hot stretch against Portland.

Over the last two games, San Antonio has averaged 106 points per game, along with shooting 48.6% from the field and 33.3% from three to hold a plus/minus of plus-12.5. Defensively in those games, the Spurs gave up just 93.5 points and held opponents to 40.8% shooting from the field and 29.2% from three.

Leading the way for San Antonio this season has been Dejounte Murray with 19.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.1 assists a game, followed by Keldon Johnson with 14.9 points and 6.4 rebounds. Jakob Poeltl is averaging 12.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

Can Trail Blazers Stay Hot at Home?

It’s been a tail of two stories for Portland, with the Trail Blazers holding an impressive record of 10-1 in front of their home crowd while sitting at 1-10 on the road.

In those home games, Portland is averaging 115.8 points per game while shooting 47.2% from the field and 38.9% from three. On the other end of the floor, the Trail Blazers have given up 103.3 points per contest, along with allowing opponents to shoot 43.8% from the field and 36.4% from three. In away games, those stats are flipped completely the other way.

Individually, Lillard has led the way for Portland with a team-high 21.5 points, 7.8 assists and four rebounds a game. CJ McCollum has added 20.6 points, 4.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds and Norman Powell has pitched in with 16.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest.

Prediction and Best Bet

Thursday’s game in Portland should be an entertaining contest. On one side, San Antonio has played well lately while winning a pair of games against quality opponents. On the other side, Portland is an incredibly tough team to face at home.

In the end, the success of the Trail Blazers at home will be too much for the Spurs to overcome to extend their winning streak to three in a row, so expect Portland to improve to 11-1 at Moda Center.

For the best bet of the night, go with the spread set of 3.5 points in favor of Portland. If the Trail Blazers do indeed come out on top, they will likely hit the over on that spread.

  • The Pick: Portland -3.5 (-110)
