  • Read on for the odds, spread, and predictions

The Golden State Warriors continue their East Coast road swing in Beantown on Friday, December 17th as they face the Boston Celtics. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm ET at TD Garden.

The Dubs just won their second consecutive game on Tuesday in a 105-96 victory over the struggling New York Knicks. Steph Curry stole the show at MSG as he officially became the all-time leader in 3-pointers, surpassing Ray Allen on the list. As for the C’s, Jayson Tatum’s 42 points led them to an impressive victory over Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.

Warriors vs Celtics Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total Points
Golden State Warriors -2.5 (-114) -142 Ov 213.5 (-108)
Boston Celtics +2.5 (-106) +120 Un 213.5 (-112)

Odds as of December 16th at FanDuel.

The Dubs are a 2.5-point road favorite but they’ve only covered the spread in one of their last four games. Boston on the other hand is just 5-7 as an ATS underdog this season.

Warriors Still Rolling

Aside from their recent betting trends, the Warriors are still winning ball games on a consistent basis. They’ve only lost once in their previous five games and currently sit at the top of the West with a 23-5 record.

Their dominance continued at the Mecca of Basketball on Tuesday as the Dubs took down the Knicks, 105-96. Curry broke the three-point record midway through the first quarter and ended up with 22 points on the night, a team-high. Golden State took full advantage of a vulnerable New York defense, shooting 38% from deep and 46% from the field. They were also dominant in the paint, outrebounding them 49-35.

The Warriors themselves played lockdown defense, limiting the Knicks to 38% shooting overall. It was also the fourth time in the last five contests that Kerr’s group allowed 100 points or less.

One massive area is success for this team has been ball movement. The Dubs are the top dog in the Association in assists per game, dishing out 28.1. That was evident at Madison Square Garden as they found countless good looks.

Celtics Thriving at Home

Boston is stuck on a 14-14 record and has gone just 4-6 in their last 10 games. However, playing at home is a strength. The C’s are 7-4 at TD Garden as opposed to just 7-10 on the road. Ime Udoka’s team rallied behind their home fans against the defending champions, cruising to a very convincing victory.

With a fully healthy rotation, the Celtics put together a solid performance. Jaylen Brown finally returned to the lineup after missing five games and dropped 19 points. But, Tatum was the standout performer on Monday, outdoing both Giannis and Khris Middleton en route to showing out for 42.

Tatum was red-hot from everywhere, shooting well over 50% from beyond the arc and the field. But most of all, he came up clutch when it mattered most, scoring 16 of his points in the fourth quarter alone. Although Tatum was the difference-maker, it was definitely an all-around effort, with five players finishing in double-digits.

After going 1-4 on their West Coast road trip, the C’s really came out to play here. They facilitated extremely well, dishing out a season-best 31 assists on the night and got each other in brilliant positions to hit shots, whether it was mid-range or from deep. The Dubs will be a tough opponent, but following a statement win like this, the Celtics should have no shortage of confidence.

Warriors vs Celtics Prediction

Steph is going to be coming into Friday with his head held high following a historic night on Tuesday. That being said, I think he will propel the Warriors to another win. The Celtics will put up a respectable fight, but the visitors will cover the spread this time around. Also, both teams have hit the under in points quite frequently as of late. It holds value here.

Pick: Golden State Warriors -2.5 (-114), Under 213.5 Points (-112)
