Only one of the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (2-0, 1-1 ATS) or Yale Bulldogs (3-0, 2-0 ATS) will be leaving the Rainbow Classic with a perfect record.

Both the Bulldogs and Rainbow Warriors have already posted wins over Eastern Michigan and Mississippi Valley State in the four-school tournament. Now they are facing each other with bragging rights on the line.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two schools. All three previous games were also played in Hawaii. The last two saw the Rainbow Warriors finishing on the winning side of the scoreboard. Yale won the first meeting.

Oddsmakers have pegged Hawaii as a 3-point home favorite in this game. Going back to last season, the Rainbow Warriors are 5-0 straight up and 3-2 against the spread in their last five home games.

The moneyline for this game is off the board in the college basketball odds. The contest features a 131-point total. The game is will be broadcast by ESPN+. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 am ET on Tuesday, November 15, at Stan Sheriff Center.

In the college basketball public betting splits, Yale is drawing overwhelming action in spread wagering. The Bulldogs are getting 92% of handle and 64% of bets in public spread betting. As far as the total, 100% of the public handle and 100% of bets are liking the over to be the winning play.

The Rainbow Warriors have seen 17 of the last 21 games go under. Yale has gone eight-for-eight on the under in the Bulldogs last eight games.

Yale Bulldogs Betting Trends

Junior forward Matt Knowling paced the attack with 20 points as the Bulldogs dropped Mississippi Valley State 80-51. He also chipped in with five rebounds. Junior forward Yussif Basa-Ama scored 12 points while finishing 5-of-5 from the floor. Sophomore guard John Poulakidas added 11 points and senior Isaiah Kelly netted 10 points.

That followed a 14-point win over Eastern Washington in which Knowling was top scorer with 26 points. In fact, Knowling has topped 20 points in all three of Yale’s games. Knowling is averaging 22 points and shooting 74.4 percent from the field this season.

Over the last seven seasons, Yale has posted a 74-24 (.755) Ivy League record. The Bulldogs have won four Ivy League championships, two Ivy League Tournament titles and earned four NCAA Tournament berths. This is including notching the first NCAA victory in school history, a triumph over Baylor in 2016.

Yale is returning three starters from last year’s championship club.

Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Betting Trends

As the Rainbow Warriors downed Mississippi Valley State, junior guard Noel Coleman led the way for the Hawaii offense with 22 points. He was Hawaii’s leading scorer last season. Senior guard/forward Samuta Avea, who sat out the past two seasons. scored 20 points and Brazilian junior forward Bernardo Da Silva chipped in with 10 points and a team high 11 rebounds.

Senior Kamaka Hepa dropped a game-high 17 points to lead the way against Eastern Washington. Coleman (15), Da Silva (14) and Avea (10) also hit double digits.

The Rainbow Warriors return three starters and nine letterwinners from last year’s squad that went 17-11 overall and finished third (10-5) in the Big West. That includes Coleman, who’s from Belgium. He was Hawaii’s leading scorer and a Big West Second Team selection in 2021-22.

Yale vs Hawaii Prediction

While it’s true that there is history between these two schools, to be honest it’s ancient history. Hawaii’s two wins over Yale came in 1988 (89-64) and 1975 (76-70). Yale won 86-67 in 1969. All of those games also came in the Rainbow Classic. The Bulldogs won the tournament in 1969.

Yale is 4-1 both SU and ATS over the past five games. In fact, the Bulldogs are 8-1 going back to last season, the only loss being to Purdue in the NCAA Tournament.

Hawaii is seeking its 16th Rainbow Classic title and third under eighth-year head coach Eran Ganot.
