Clemson Tigers Betting Outlook

Clemson enters Saturday’s Week 11 game vs Louisville following a disappointing showing against Notre Dame last weekend. The Tigers were gashed for 263 rushing yards by the Irish in a 35-14 loss — their first defeat of the season.

Coach Dabo Swinney pulled quarterback DJ Uiagalelei for a second straight game, but unfortunately, DJ’s replacement, Cade Klubnik, threw a costly interception in the third quarter that led to a Notre Dame touchdown.

Clemson is still the heavy favorite to win the ACC, but its playoff hopes are clinging on by a thread. If the Tigers have any chance of making the CFP, they need to go out and make a statement in Week 11. The Tigers have failed to cover the spread in back-to-back games against Syracuse and ND.

While Clemson has had trouble moving the ball offensively, the Tigers do feature one of the better defenses in the ACC. Swinney’s team is surrendering 334 yards and 21.6 points per game while averaging around 2.5 sacks per contest.

The injuries are starting to pile up for Clemson, as RB Kobe Pace, WR Beaux Collins and DE Justin Foster are all expected to miss the Louisville game due to injury. You can expect another heavy workload for running back Will Shipley, who paces the team with 802 rushing yards.

Lousiville Cardinals Betting Outlook

Louisville is playing its best football of the season entering its toughest test of the year vs Clemson in Week 11. The Cardinals have won and covered the spread in four straight games, including a 34-10 victory over James Madison last weekend.

What was most impressive about Louisville’s Week 10 victory was their play on the ground. The Cardinals rushed for 244 yards against an elite JMU rush defense that was top nationally at the time of the game.

Quarterback Malik Cunningham threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns against the Dukes while completing 70% of his passes. The Louisville defense also had a monster day, limiting JMU’s explosive offense to just 193 yards.

The Cardinals aren’t as banged up as the Tigers, but they do have one key absence. Running back Trevion Cooley missed the JMU game due to a personal matter and it’s unclear if he’ll be available for the Clemson matchup on Saturday.

Clemson vs Louisville Prediction

Clemson vs Louisville tells a story of two teams trending in different directions. The Tigers have struggled in their last two matchups, while the Cardinals have racked up two quality wins against Wake Forest (48-21) and JMU.

It’s always tough to play in Death Valley, but the experienced senior Cunningham gives the Cardinals an edge at the most important position. When these two teams plays last season, Cunningham had 308 yards of total offense in a 30-24 loss.

There are too many questions surrounding Clemson right now to feel confident laying seven points with them. Sharp bettors are already backing the underdog, as the public betting splits show Louisville -7 is getting 47% of the money with only 29% of bets.

Given how well the Louisville offense ran against the JMU defense last weekend, they should continue that success against a Clemson rush defense that had no answer for Notre Dame’s ground game. Grab Lousiville at +7 before the line shortens.

  • Pick: Louisville +7 (-110)
