Georgia Betting Trends

The juggernaut that is Georgia Bulldogs football heads to the Peach Bowl looking for a second straight national championship. Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs are unequivocally the best team in the nation, and will be tough to stop.

Georgia is once again led by its incredible defense. Featuring the unblockable Jalen Carter, the Bulldogs have surrendered just 13.8 points per game and are top ten in the country in yards per game, 3rd down percentage and red zone scoring. Importantly, Georgia allowed only 77 rushing yards per game this year, the top mark in the country. Ohio State will be forced to air it out to have any hope of an upset in the Peach Bowl.

Having said that, Georgia’s offense is nearly as talented. Led by quarterback Stetson Bennett, the offense averages 39.2 points per game, and seven yards per play. The running back committee of Kenny McIntosh, Daijuan Edwards, and Kendall Milton has been unstoppable while rumbling for over 200 yards per game. Additionally, Bennett has been unflappable against ranked opponents this season, hitting on 68.4 % of his passes, while throwing for nearly 300 yards per game and totalling eight touchdowns.

Moreover, the Bulldogs averaged 42 points per game in three games against teams ranked in the AP Top 25 this season. Not to mention, Georgia is 4-0 ATS when favored by 20 points or less.

Ohio State Betting Trends

There aren’t many teams in the country that can compete with Georgia, but Ohio State might be one of them.

The Buckeyes boast perhaps the greatest collection of skill position talent in the nation. While Ohio State will be without stars Jaxson Smith-Njigba and Treveyon Henderson due to injury, the team has hardly seemed to miss them this season. Marvin Harrison Jr (1,157 yards, 12 TDs) may be the best receiver in the country, while his running mate Emeka Egbuka (1,039 yards, 9 TDs) is no slouch.

That being said, the Buckeyes will only go as far as quarterback CJ Stroud can take them. Stroud threw for 3,340 yards and 37 touchdowns while leading the Buckeyes offense to 44.5 points per game. However, Stroud has struggled when harassed in the pocket this season. The surefire first-round NFL draft pick has looked like a different player against teams who can put him under pressure consistently. Stroud struggled mightily against Michigan and Notre Dame this season. Georgia has the horses in its front seven to replicate that feat and disrupt the timing of Ohio State’s passing game.

Further, the Buckeyes are ice-cold against teams with a winning record this season, going 0-3-1 against the spread.

Georgia vs Ohio State CFP Semifinal Prediction

A matchup between two Heisman trophy finalists, the Peach Bowl will be appointment viewing on New Year’s Eve. While the Ohio State offense can put up points in bunches, and their defense has improved this season, the Georgia Bulldogs are an unstoppable force.

While this year’s Georgia defense lacks the star power of last year’s squad, it may be even better. The Bulldogs’ defense will prove its dominance on Saturday night while making the Ohio State attack look pedestrian. Lay the points and take Georgia to cover the spread.

Peach Bowl Pick: Georgia -6.5 (-110)
