When it comes to anytime TD bets, there are certain defenses you want to pick on. The Titans, Giants and Cowboys all make that list, but no defense has been more giving to enemy offenses than the Bengals. We’ll be targeting all those defenses in our expert picks, but first we can’t ignore the NFL’s reigning touchdown King.
Jonathan Taylor headlines my favorite NFL anytime touchdown bets for Week 9 below, so keep reading for my expert picks and the analysis behind them.
Best NFL TD Scorer Picks (Week 9)
The “best odds” in the table are as of 8:00 pm ET, November 1. Readers can bookmark SBD’s NFL player props page to see up-to-the-minute props for every Week 9 game.
Jonathan Taylor Anytime TD (-250)
Taylor’s TD implied probability according to ESPN’s advanced model is -900, yet online sportsbooks have him priced at -250 to score. That’s a discrepancy I’m not going to ignore, and just like last week, I’m going to bet Taylor to score in the first half (+110), and for 2+ TD (+180) as well.
Jonathan Taylor Rushing Stats
Taylor leads the league in rushing yards and TD, and ranks second in yards per attempt. He’ll face an underwhelming Pittsburgh defense that looked helpless against Green Bay last week, after yielding 40 points the week before. The Steelers defense ranks 23rd in success rate, while the Colts offense is number one in that metric, and number one in EPA/rush.
Christian McCaffrey Anytime TD (-190)
Sticking with the high priced anytime TD options, I’ll target Christian McCaffrey next. He faces a Giants defense that ranks last in EPA/rush allowed, and that’s given up the second most rushing TD.
McCaffrey is a volume monster, racking up 160 more touches than any other 49ers player. He’s a threat to score through the air and on the ground, leading the team in targets, receptions and receiving yards, along with carries and rushing yards.
Jahmyr Gibbs Anytime TD (-185)
The last heavily juiced anytime TD prop I’m targeting belongs to the Lions Jahmyr Gibbs against the Vikings. He’s absolutely torched them throughout his career, scoring nine times in only four meetings.
Minnesota’s defense has been a major disappointment this season, ranking 23rd in EPA/rush allowed. Gibbs meanwhile, has 7 TD in seven games so far, and nine explosive plays. Like McCaffrey, he’s a threat to score in both the rushing and passing game, and should be priced much closer to Taylor in this market.
Javonte Williams Anytime TD (-139)
Before we pick on the Dallas defense, we have to give flowers to their running back Javonte Williams. The former Bronco has punched in 8 scores already, and has over 100 more touches than any of his teammates. Only Taylor has seen more carries inside the enemy’s 5-yard line, while his Week 9 opponent Arizona ranks bottom-12 in rushing TD allowed this season.
Kimani Vidal Anytime TD (-125)
Since Kimani Vidal took over lead RB duties for the depleted Chargers he’s had a stranglehold on the touches. Vidal has has 20+ touches in two of three starts, including 23 carries in last week’s blowout win over the Vikings. The 24-year-old has multiple 100+ rushing yard games during that stretch, and now faces a Titans defense that’s allowed the most rushing TD in the league.
Josh Allen Anytime TD (+105)
It’s not every week that Josh Allen puts on his Superman cape, but he’s always wearing it when he faces the Chiefs. Allen averages 10+ carries and 45+ rushing yards in his career against KC, finding the end zone three times.
Sunday’s battle between top Super Bowl odds contenders will go a long way in determining home field advantage in the playoffs, and I expect Allen to pull out all the stops. He’s already scored five times on the ground in 2025, after hitting pay dirt 12 times during his MVP season a year ago.
Trey McBride Anytime TD (+120)
Nearly every QB that’s faced the Cowboys has lit up their pass defense this season. That’s why I’m not worried about backing Trey McBride with Jacoby Brissett under center. Brissett will start again for the injured Kyler Murray on Monday Night Football, and has looked just fine targeting McBride in his two games. They’ve connected 18 times for 146 yards and 3 TD.
That should be worrisome for a Dallas defense that’s yielded more pass yards and touchdowns than anyone else, and that ranks 31st in success rate.
Rome Odunze Anytime TD (+130)
The only defense that’s surrendered a higher success rate to enemy offenses than the Cowboys is Cincinnati. The Bengals have also allowed more points than any other defense, and rank dead last in EPA/pass allowed.
That’s good news for Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze. The duo have hooked up for 5 TD this season, four more than any other Bears connection. Odunze leads the team in targets, receptions and receiving yards, and has five more explosive plays than any of his teammates.
