  • Trubisky listed as doubtful with a dislocated shoulder
  • Oakland giving up 10th most points per game this season
  • Bears are 2-2 ATS through four weeks of action

It looks like the Chicago Bears will be heading to London with a different starting quarterback.

Mitchell Trubisky, who suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder, is listed as doubtful for Chicago’s game against the Oakland Raiders at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That has made way for backup Chase Daniel to potentially get the ball as Chicago’s prime pivot this week.

Sportsbooks initially listed the Bears as 7-point favorites, but that line has since dropped to 5 heading into the Week 5 matchup.

Is there value in betting on the Bears with Daniel getting the start at QB?

Let’s dive into the Chicago Bears vs. Oakland Raiders odds.

Chicago Bears vs. Oakland Raiders Odds

Teams Spread Moneyline Total
Chicago Bears -4.5 (-110) -210 O 40.5 (-110)
Oakland Raiders +4.5 (-110) +176 U 40.5 (-110)

*Odds taken September 30, 2019

The movement in sportsbooks’ point spread line likely had to do with the news from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport who reported that Trubisky suffered a dislocated shoulder and was listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Raiders.

Trubisky was injured in Chicago’s first drive of the game against the Vikings, falling awkwardly on his shoulder. Daniel, who is an 11-year veteran, took over and finished 22-of-30 passing with 195 yards and one touchdown.

Daniel  Will Get Favorable Matchup Against the Raiders

Daniel and the Bears probably couldn’t have asked for a better opponent for Week 5 as the team likely moves forward without Trubisky for the time being. Chicago will seek a fourth straight win against a Raiders team that’s allowed the 10th most total yards against through four games this season.

The Raiders are also surrendering 25.5 points per game against, which is the 10th most in the NFL as well.

Even if Daniel struggles, he has the Bears defense to bail him out. Chicago’s stingy defense is allowing the second fewest points per game (11.3) this season. Only the New England Patriots defense is allowing fewer at 6.8.

The Bears are 3-1 on the season, having won three straight games, but are 2-2 against the spread heading into Week 5. Chicago did cover the last two weeks of action with wins over Washington and Minnesota.

Opening Total for Chicago vs Oakland Set at 40.5

Betting the total points? Sportsbooks have set the opening line to 40.5.

Scoring was a major issue for the Bears early on but the team seemed to break through with 31 points against the Redskins.

However, after posting just 16 against the Vikings on Sunday, you have to wonder which offense will show up for the Bears this week.

Head-to-head, the Bears have won two of the last three meetings against Oakland, but these two have not met in the regular season since 2015.

Another head-to-head stat to consider before making a bet on the Bears are passing yards per game. Chicago is outmatched heading into the game, averaging 183.3 compared to Oakland at 210.

If the Bears want to win and cover the spread, they’ll need more from rookie running back David Montgomery, who entered the season with high expectations but is off to a slow start.

Oakland is allowing 104 yards per game against on the ground and the Bears, without Trubisky on the field, will have to expose that weakness.

Montgomery leads the Bears in rushing with 200 yards this season, but he has yet to post 100 yards in a single game through four weeks. Against a weak Raiders rush defense, this may be the week Montgomery turns in a breakout game.

The Bears haven’t been great ATS this season, but look for them to cover on Sunday against the Raiders and keep their win streak alive.

Pick: Chicago Bears (-5, -110)
