Bills Injury Report
The Bills enter with significant injury concerns across the roster. Buffalo ruled out two defensive backs and will activate multiple players from injured reserve to bolster depth.
Josh Allen Cleared to Play
Quarterback Josh Allen carries no injury designation despite dealing with foot, knee and finger issues. Allen was limited in Tuesday’s walkthrough but practiced fully Wednesday and Thursday.
The foot injury dates back to Week 16 against Cleveland when Allen underwent postgame X-rays that were negative. He aggravated the issue against Philadelphia but continued playing. The knee and finger injuries occurred during Buffalo’s wild-card win over Jacksonville.
Saturday marks Allen’s 137th consecutive start, the longest active streak among NFL quarterbacks. “I feel good,” Allen said Tuesday. “Honestly, I feel better than I have the last few weeks.”
Dalton Kincaid, Matt Milano Updates
Tight end Dalton Kincaid carries no injury designation despite leaving Sunday’s win in a walking boot. Head coach Sean McDermott called the move “precautionary.” Kincaid was limited all week but wasn’t given a game designation.
Kincaid caught three passes for 28 yards and a touchdown on five targets against Jacksonville. He’s been Allen’s security blanket on third down throughout the season.
Linebacker Matt Milano was limited all week with an ankle injury, but also carries no designation. Milano, A.J. Epenesa, Greg Rousseau and Shaq Thompson are all expected to play despite limited practice participation.
Secondary Losses
Buffalo ruled out veteran safety Jordan Poyer and rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston. Poyer reaggravated his December 21 hamstring pull during the wild-card win. Hairston twisted his ankle in the regular season finale and hasn’t practiced since.
The Bills will likely activate safety Damar Hamlin from injured reserve to fill Poyer’s role. Hamlin practiced fully all week and is listed as questionable. He can also handle special teams reps vacated by Tyrell Shavers, who suffered a torn ACL against Jacksonville.
Friday Roster Moves
Buffalo activated wide receiver Curtis Samuel and defensive tackle Ed Oliver from injured reserve Friday. Samuel practiced fully all week and is expected to play a significant role with the Bills’ receiver room depleted.
Oliver was limited all week returning from a biceps injury. His activation provides depth on the defensive line, though he may be on a snap count.
The Bills also elevated wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr. and running back Frank Gore Jr. from the practice squad for Saturday’s game.
Questionable Players
Running back Ty Johnson is questionable with an ankle injury. Head coach Sean McDermott said the team is taking a “similar approach to last week” with Johnson, who missed the wild-card game.
Linebacker Terrel Bernard and safety Damar Hamlin are also listed as questionable. Hamlin practiced fully all week and is expected to fill in for Jordan Poyer at safety.
Broncos Injury Report
The Broncos enter remarkably healthy compared to Buffalo. Denver ruled out just two players and has no one listed as questionable for the divisional round.
Dre Greenlaw Ready to Return
Linebacker Dre Greenlaw improved to full participation in Thursday’s practice and carries no game designation. Greenlaw was limited Monday and Tuesday before progressing to full Wednesday and Thursday.
The veteran linebacker last played in Week 16. He’s appeared in eight games this season with 43 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, a forced fumble, two passes defensed and an interception.
Defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers was a full participant all week and also carries no designation. Their availability gives Denver a healthy defensive front.
Sanders, Krull Ruled Out
Linebacker Drew Sanders improved to full participation Thursday but was ruled out with an ankle injury. Tight end Lucas Krull was limited all week with a foot injury and is also out.
Denver elevated wide receiver Elijah Moore and tight end Caleb Lohner from the practice squad Friday. Moore played nine games for Buffalo earlier this season before being released in November.
Former Bill Takes Shot
Broncos wide receiver Elijah Moore, who played nine games for Buffalo earlier this season before being released, commented on the Bills’ receiver injuries. “They got a lot of guys banged up, but they don’t really throw it to the receivers anyway,” Moore said.
Moore caught nine passes for 112 yards without a touchdown for Buffalo before his November release. He was elevated from Denver’s practice squad for the divisional round.
Buffalo’s wide receiver room has been decimated by injuries. Josh Palmer went on IR before the wild-card game. Gabe Davis and Tyrell Shavers both suffered torn ACLs against Jacksonville. The Bills are down to Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Brandin Cooks, Curtis Samuel and Mecole Hardman at receiver.
Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. ET this afternoon at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. The winner advances to face either Houston or New England in the AFC Championship Game.
