The Buffalo Bills (1-0, 0-0 away, 1-0 ATS, 1-0 O/U) and New York Jets (0-1, 0-1 home, 1-0 ATS, 1-0 O/U) are set to clash at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, on Sunday, Sep. 14. Kickoff for this divisional showdown is scheduled for 1:00 pm ET and will be broadcast on CBS.

Both teams are coming off wild Week 1 games. Buffalo QB Josh Allen torched the Ravens for 394 passing yards in an epic 41-40 comeback victory, while New York pivot Justin Fields led his team to 32 points against a highly-touted Pittsburgh defense in a heartbreaking 34-32 loss.

Below, I will set out my expert Bills/Jets picks, analyze crucial player props, and dissect the Bills vs Jets betting odds, which have already moved a full point in New York’s direction (+7.5 to +6.5) and toward the over (44.5 to 46.5 O/U).

Buffalo Bills vs New York Jets Picks & Predictions

  • ATS: New York Jets +6.5 (-105) at DraftKings
  • Over/Under: Over 46.5 (-110) at bet365
  • Player Prop #1: Justin Fields over 42.5 rush yards (-114) at DraftKings
  • Player Prop #2: Josh Allen anytime TD (-112) at Underdog

The Bills have won and covered the last three H2H meetings with New York. However, this may not be the same Jets offense that Buffalo has recently manhandled. Justin Fields has injected a new level of dynamism, evidenced by his three-touchdown performance (one passing, two rushing) in Week 1 against a Steelers defense that’s projected to be among the NFL’s best.

Fields showcased the dual-threat ability that made him a nightmare in college but has rarely shown up in his four-plus-year NFL career. He completed 72.7% of his passes while adding 48 yards on the ground. With a continually-improving O-line keeping him clean, Fields has the tools to challenge a Bills defense that has shown significant vulnerabilities.

Whether with his arm or his legs, Fields is poised to exploit a Bills defense that struggles against mobile quarterbacks and allows significant yardage after the catch.

Buffalo’s offense, led by the reigning MVP Josh Allen (who became the new favorite in the 2025 NFL MVP odds after Week 1), remains as potent as any. However, their struggles against the run are a major red flag against a Jets team that just ran for 182 yards and three scores on Pittsburgh. The Bills are just 1-3 against the spread in their last four road games, and this is a spot where the Jets can keep things close.

The trends overwhelmingly support a high-scoring game. The over has hit in nine of the Jets’ last ten games following a loss and in all five of the Bills’ last five road contests. Buffalo has also gone over the total in nine of its last 13 games (69.2%). The East Rutherford weather forecast for this mid-September tilt is expected to be mild, with temperatures in the high 60s to low 70s, providing ideal conditions for a high-powered offensive battle.

I’m taking the points with the home underdog and banking on another shootout.

BUF Bills vs NY Jets Odds

At the time of publication, the Bills were 6.5-point favorites and -291 favorites (or shorter). The Jets were as long as +260. The odds in the table above will update in real time as sportsbooks move their lines. The table will always display the best available spread, moneyline, and total for each side.

The total of 46.5 points is one of the higher marks for the Week 2 slate, reflecting the offensive firepower on both sides and their high-scoring Week 1 games.

BUF vs NYJ Odds Movement

This betting line has seen significant movement since opening. The Bills opened as hefty 7.5-point favorites, but the spread has since been bet down a full point to -6.5. This shift indicates that early money, likely from sharp bettors, backed the New York Jets after their impressive offensive debut with Justin Fields under center. The Jets’ ability to keep their opener close and Fields’ dynamic playmaking clearly caught the market’s attention.

The total has also seen a notable adjustment, climbing from an opening line of 44.5 to 46.5. This two-point jump is a direct reaction to both teams participating in shootouts in Week 1, combined with overwhelming betting trends that favor high-scoring affairs for both clubs.

That said, the number could tick back down in the near future. As of Friday evening, the NFL public betting trends showed 90% of O/U handle now on the under.

NFL player props as of September 11 at DraftKings.

Josh Allen’s passing yards line of 229.5 seems low after he threw for nearly 400 in Week 1, especially since the Jets’ stout run defense may force the Bills to lean on the pass again.

Justin Fields’ passing TD line is set at just 0.5, but is heavily juiced to the over at -22. His rushing ability in the red zone makes the under on his passing TDs an interesting contrarian play.

Fields’ rushing yardage prop at 42.5 is a standout. He ran for 48 yards in Week 1, and the Bills’ defense has historically struggled to contain mobile quarterbacks.

Garrett Wilson’s reception line at 4.5 is heavily favored to go over, as he is the undisputed top target in the Jets’ passing game.

For the Bills, James Cook’s anytime TD prop at -135 is pricey but reflects his role as the primary back against a team that yielded three rushing scores last week.
